Job Overview: The Project Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day implementation of activities within the protection unit, specifically focusing on the 'Australian Government Anti-People Smuggling Communication Campaign' project. This position requires a proactive individual who can assist in various aspects of project management, including awareness-raising, outreach, and community-based communications interventions. The successful candidate will be expected to coordinate with various stakeholders, including government offices and other relevant units within IOM, to ensure the smooth execution of project activities. The role also involves developing targeted communication materials related to safe migration, human trafficking, and smuggling, as well as monitoring project activities and compiling reports for donors. The Project Assistant will be expected to travel within the country to support project operations and perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and colleagues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the implementation of awareness-raising and outreach activities related to the project.
Support the PxD unit in coordinating project implementation, ensuring adherence to budgetary, administrative, and technical guidelines.
Develop targeted communication and outreach materials on safe migration and human trafficking.
Communicate and coordinate with relevant units and government offices to facilitate project activities.
Organize meetings, workshops, and events with stakeholders.
Collect migration data and information to support evidence-based policies and practices.
Monitor project activities and compile reports for donor submission.
Draft reports and project-related documents, including meeting minutes and activity status updates.
Conduct duty travel within the country as needed. 1
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors and colleagues.
Relevant training and experience in project implementation.
Good knowledge of human rights and protection issues.
Knowledge of counter-trafficking is an advantage.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as social science, Public Administration, Economics, or International Relations. The educational qualifications must be from accredited universities recognized in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that the candidate has received a quality education that meets international standards.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 3 years of professional experience in project implementation or support, preferably with government, non-government, or international organizations. For those with a school diploma, a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required. Prior experience working with UN agencies, INGOs, or NGOs is highly desirable, as is experience in developing and maintaining partnerships with government counterparts and donors.
Languages: Proficiency in English and Bangla is mandatory for this position. IOM's official languages also include French and Spanish, and while proficiency in these languages is not required, it may be considered an advantage during the selection process. Language proficiency will be evaluated through written and/or oral assessments as part of the selection process.
Additional Notes: The position is subject to local recruitment, meaning only candidates with a valid residence and work permit for Bangladesh will be considered. The appointment will depend on the candidate's medical fitness for the role and verification of residency and visa requirements. The selection process may also be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations.
