Job Overview:
The internship program at the ILO provides a unique opportunity for individuals to gain insight into international labor issues while actively participating in the organization's work. Interns will engage directly with ILO principles, programs, and strategies, gaining practical experience that is closely related to their field of study. This specific internship focuses on labor law and international labor standards in Bangladesh, particularly under the Advancing Decent Work in Bangladesh (ADWIB) project. Interns will support initiatives aimed at making Bangladesh's labor laws more gender-responsive and aligned with international labor standards. The role involves enhancing awareness and knowledge about labor law amendments and increasing the capacity of stakeholders to engage with the ILO's supervisory system. Interns will also facilitate discussions on labor law and international labor standards with practitioners and academics, thereby broadening the dialogue on these critical issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be involved in a variety of tasks that support the objectives of the ILO's labor law and international labor standards component. Responsibilities include conducting technical legal analysis, assisting in capacity development for legal practitioners, and supporting legislative dialogues. Interns will help prepare reports and observations for ILO supervisory bodies, organize workshops and training sessions, and perform related administrative tasks. They will work closely with specialists and senior national officers in labor law and international labor standards, as well as engage with social partners, including employers and workers, to promote adherence to international labor standards. This role requires a proactive approach to learning and collaboration, as interns will be expected to contribute to discussions and initiatives that advance labor law reform in Bangladesh.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong educational background in law, specifically an LL.B degree. They should be enrolled in their final year of a graduate degree program or have completed such a program. An LL.M in Labour Law, Human Rights, or International Law is considered an added advantage. Relevant work experience in legal research, legal drafting, and report writing is essential. Familiarity with information technology is beneficial, and experience in supporting training or network development will be advantageous as well.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have completed or be in the final year of a graduate degree program in law (LL.B). An advanced degree such as an LL.M in Labour Law, Human Rights, or International Law is preferred and will enhance the candidate's profile. This educational background is crucial as it provides the necessary legal knowledge and analytical skills required for the internship.

Experience:
Candidates should have relevant experience in legal research, legal drafting, and report writing. This experience is vital as it equips interns with the skills needed to perform the duties associated with the internship effectively. Additionally, any experience in supporting training or network development will be beneficial, as it demonstrates the candidate's ability to engage with various stakeholders and contribute to capacity-building efforts.

Languages:
Interns must possess working knowledge of both Bangla and English, with proficiency in both oral and written communication. The ability to produce high-quality reports in English is mandatory, as this is a critical aspect of the internship. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
The internship is for a duration of six months and is not intended to lead to further employment with the ILO. Candidates must meet specific criteria to apply, including having no close relatives serving in the ILO and this being their first internship with the organization. Interns will receive a monthly stipend based on the cost of living in Dhaka, unless they receive funding from another institution. Travel expenses to the duty station will be the responsibility of the intern. It is important to note that the ILO does not cover insurance costs for accidents or illnesses incurred during the internship, and interns must secure their own insurance coverage.
