Job Overview:
The Project Assistant (Operations) position is integral to the successful implementation of the Helios+ project, which aims to facilitate the integration of third-country nationals into the labor market in the South Aegean region of Greece. The successful candidate will work closely with national and local authorities, as well as experienced partners, to support beneficiaries of international protection and temporary protection. This role involves providing interpretation and translation services, establishing initial contact with beneficiaries, and fostering relationships built on respect and trust. The Project Assistant will also be responsible for responding to inquiries via the project’s helpline, identifying issues, and reporting them to the Project Assistant (Operations). The position requires a proactive approach to developing relationships with beneficiaries and stakeholders to ensure effective project implementation and coordination.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Assistant (Operations) include:
  • Providing interpretation and cultural mediation services to beneficiaries.
  • Responding to calls received on the project’s helpline, documenting inquiries, and reporting new issues to the Project Assistant (Operations).
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with beneficiaries, stakeholders, and other humanitarian actors.
  • Identifying barriers that prevent beneficiaries from accessing services and reporting these gaps.
  • Translating documents and informational materials for project beneficiaries.
  • Assisting in mediation activities in collaboration with IOM staff.
  • Providing general assistance to project staff during activities at HELIOS+ Centers and other locations as needed.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a high school degree or certificate, with a minimum of one year of relevant work experience. A university degree from an accredited institution is considered an advantage. Candidates should possess a combination of knowledge, education, training, and skills necessary to perform the essential functions of the role. Computer literacy in standard software applications is essential, along with a strong work ethic and commitment to humanitarian principles. A valid driver’s license with at least five years of driving experience is also advantageous.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have at least a high school degree or certificate. A university degree from an accredited academic institution is preferred, particularly from institutions recognized in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. This educational background is essential to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge necessary for the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have previous work experience in a similar role, ideally within a multi-cultural environment. This experience is crucial for understanding the complexities of working with diverse populations and for effectively supporting beneficiaries in their integration process. Familiarity with humanitarian principles and practices is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required for this position. Additionally, fluency in Farsi/Dari is mandatory. Knowledge of Greek is considered an advantage, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and beneficiaries. Proficiency in these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
