Job Overview:
The position of Graphic Design Artist at UNFPA Afghanistan is a remote consultancy role aimed at enhancing the visibility and advancement of UNFPA’s humanitarian work in Afghanistan. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing various communication materials that are not only visually appealing but also strategically aligned with UNFPA’s mission. This role is crucial in promoting key information and supporting resource mobilization efforts. The graphic design artist will work closely with the UNFPA Afghanistan office to create materials that effectively communicate the organization’s objectives and achievements. The scope of work includes designing situation reports, monthly donor outreach reports, humanitarian access snapshots, presentations for key meetings, brochures, flyers, and digital materials for social media. The artist will apply their creativity and design skills to ensure that all materials adhere to UNFPA branding guidelines and effectively convey the intended messages to diverse audiences.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be expected to develop design and layout for various communication products for UNFPA Afghanistan. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Creating visually appealing situation reports that summarize key information and data.
  • Designing monthly individual donor outreach reports to enhance engagement and communication with donors.
  • Producing humanitarian access snapshots that provide insights into the current situation and challenges faced.
  • Developing presentations for key meetings that effectively communicate UNFPA’s objectives and strategies.
  • Designing country office programme brochures, flyers, and other strategic programme materials that highlight UNFPA’s work and impact.
  • Creating digital materials for social media platforms, ensuring that the format is suitable for various channels (PNG, JPG, GIF, MP4).
  • Producing IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) and visibility materials that promote UNFPA’s initiatives.
  • Completing other related tasks as needed to support the communication and visibility efforts of UNFPA Afghanistan.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in graphic design, digital media, or other relevant visual arts courses. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with an additional two years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree. A minimum of two years of experience in graphic design is required, with proven knowledge of graphic layout and design across multiple media channels. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in using design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Additionally, a strong understanding of visual messaging and informational graphics is essential. The ideal candidate will have a creative mindset, the ability to work well under pressure, and the capability to complete tasks efficiently while managing tight deadlines.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in graphic design, digital media, or other relevant visual arts courses.
