The office serves as a liaison with the African Union Commission (AUC) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), focusing on collaborative programs and projects that align with its mission.
Job Overview: The role of the online volunteer is crucial in reviewing, editing, and redesigning the layout of key documents to ensure they are clear, consistent, and visually appealing. This position requires collaboration with the Program Specialist and Heads of sectors to assess the relevance and effectiveness of the Office's strategic interventions. The volunteer will focus on integrating themes such as gender equality, youth engagement, and innovation into the documents. The review will cover the period from 2022 to 2025 and will include various thematic areas such as Education, Culture, and Natural Sciences, ensuring that the outputs meet UNESCO's editorial and graphic standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review, edit, and redesign the layout of key documents including the Report on Year of Education 2024, and reports on activities implemented in Ethiopia and with the AU from 2022 to 202
Support the finalization of the Liaison Office's evaluation and strategic reports, ensuring adherence to agreed formats and templates.
Ensure all outputs meet UNESCO's editorial, graphic, and visibility standards while incorporating feedback from staff and partners.
Analyze the relevance, coherence, effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability, and inclusiveness of the Office’s strategic interventions.
Identify opportunities to enhance impact, visibility, and coherence with global and continental agendas.
Deliver a comprehensive report on the review process, ensuring timely and quality outputs.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong editing and design skills, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Familiarity with UNESCO's mission and values, particularly in relation to education and human rights, is essential. The ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders is also required.
Educational Background: A background in communications, graphic design, education, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have experience in document design and editing, as well as familiarity with UNESCO's thematic areas.
Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, particularly within international organizations or NGOs, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of producing high-quality reports and documents, as well as experience in working with diverse teams.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of additional languages, particularly French or Arabic, would be considered an asset.
