Job Overview: The Area Field Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of UN Women’s programs at the field level, particularly in the southern governorates of Jordan. This position involves managing activities related to the Oasis program, which aims to empower vulnerable women through increased access to economic opportunities and community engagement. The Area Field Associate will coordinate with local partners, NGOs, and government entities to ensure effective program delivery, capacity building, and community needs assessments. The role requires regular travel within the designated area and entails close collaboration with the Field Officer and other functional units at the Country Office. The incumbent will also be responsible for reporting and monitoring program activities, ensuring alignment with UN Women’s strategic objectives and the Jordan Response Plan.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Area Field Associate will be responsible for a variety of tasks including coordinating and supporting the implementation of program activities in target locations, providing capacity building for MoSD center managers, conducting needs assessments, and overseeing women's economic empowerment initiatives. The role includes organizing meetings and events, facilitating partnerships with local stakeholders, and contributing to communication materials. The incumbent will also collaborate with the UN Women protection focal point to maintain a referral system, deliver awareness sessions, and engage men and boys in promoting women's leadership. Additionally, the Area Field Associate will document good practices and success stories, ensuring effective knowledge management within the organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong coordination skills, particularly in working with government entities, NGOs, and community-based organizations. The role requires a demonstrated ability to manage protection referral systems and deliver gender-based violence awareness sessions. The ideal candidate should have a proactive approach, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, are essential for this position, along with the ability to lead and mentor others.
Educational Background: Completion of secondary education is required for this position, while a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related fields is desirable. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of gender equality and women's empowerment initiatives.
Experience: A minimum of 7 years of experience in implementing field-level programs focused on gender equality, women's empowerment, and protection is required. Candidates should have experience in humanitarian or development settings, with a strong track record of coordinating trainings and community engagement activities. The ability to manage protection referral systems and deliver GBV awareness sessions is also essential.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic and English is required for this position. Proficiency in these languages will facilitate effective communication with local partners, stakeholders, and beneficiaries, ensuring the successful implementation of programs.
