Job Posting Organization:
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organization that provides emergency aid to individuals affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion, and natural disasters. Founded in 1971, MSF operates in over 70 countries worldwide, delivering medical assistance based solely on need, without regard to race, religion, gender, or political affiliation. MSF International serves as the legal entity that unites MSF's 24 sections, 28 associations, and 19 branch offices, providing coordination, information, and support to the MSF Movement while implementing international projects and initiatives as required. Registered in Switzerland, MSF International plays a crucial role in ensuring that the organization's humanitarian mission is effectively carried out across various regions.

Job Overview:
The primary objective of the Intersectional Pharmacist position is to support MSF programs and sections in the supply of medicines and medical devices, ensuring that MSF's quality standards are adhered to in response to the evolving situations in the MENA region and beyond. This role will focus on countries such as Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine, as well as Afghanistan and India, with the potential to extend to other nations as necessary. The Intersectional Pharmacist will work closely with the International Pharmacist Coordinator and will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance to ensure that procurement strategies align with MSF's medical department directives. This position requires a proactive approach to solving supply issues and enhancing the knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations and market conditions in the region, ultimately contributing to the effective delivery of medical aid.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Intersectional Pharmacist will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: ensuring that all MSF sections implement consistent importation and supply rules in line with MSF International Qualification schemes and procurement policies; collecting and maintaining a local purchase database of authorized items and sources; developing relationships with other NGOs, UN agencies, and local organizations to address pharmaceutical quality and availability; conducting assessments of local distributors and ensuring compliance with Good Distribution Practices (GDP); keeping all relevant personnel informed about national medicines and medical device regulations; acting as the main contact for local authorities regarding pharmaceutical issues; supporting missions in collaboration with MSF Access and disease-focused pharmacists; regularly updating information on pharmaceutical legislation and coordinating meetings to share knowledge and resolve issues; compiling and updating documentation for local procurement; and providing technical pharmacy support and training to medical managers and supply officers.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Intersectional Pharmacist position must possess a strong understanding of pharmaceutical supply chains, procurement processes, and regulatory frameworks. They should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to liaise effectively with various stakeholders, including local authorities, NGOs, and MSF teams. A proactive and problem-solving mindset is essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. Familiarity with the MENA region's healthcare landscape and pharmaceutical market is highly desirable, along with a commitment to MSF's humanitarian principles and values.

Educational Background:
A degree in pharmacy or a related field is required for this position. Advanced qualifications or certifications in pharmaceutical sciences, public health, or international health are advantageous. Continuous professional development and training in relevant areas will be expected to ensure that the pharmacist remains updated on best practices and regulatory changes.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical supply chain management, procurement, or a similar role within a humanitarian or healthcare setting. Experience working in the MENA region or in conflict-affected areas is particularly valuable, as is familiarity with MSF's operational context and challenges.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable due to the regional focus of the position. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the MENA region or MSF's operational areas would be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This position is a fixed-term contract for 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs. The role is full-time and based in Amman, Jordan, with potential travel to other countries in the region as required. MSF offers competitive compensation and benefits, including health insurance, paid leave, and opportunities for professional development.
