The office also implements programs aimed at supporting Syrian refugee women and vulnerable Jordanian women, particularly through the Oasis Centers that provide multi-sectoral services.

Job Overview:
The Area Field Associate position is crucial for the implementation of UN Women's programs at the field level in Jordan. The incumbent will be responsible for managing activities related to the Oasis program in 3 to 4 centers within the middle governorates of Jordan. This role involves coordinating with local NGOs, community-based organizations (CBOs), and the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) to ensure effective program delivery. The Area Field Associate will support capacity building for center managers and staff, conduct needs assessments, and tailor activities to meet local community needs. The position requires regular travel within the designated area to oversee program activities, ensure logistical arrangements, and report on progress. The Area Field Associate will also engage in pilot phases to institutionalize the Oasis model and promote national ownership, contributing to the overall goal of empowering vulnerable women through increased access to economic opportunities and community engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Programme Implementation: Coordinate and support the implementation of program activities in target locations, working closely with NGOs, CBOs, and MoSD staff. Provide ongoing programmatic and operational guidance to center managers and staff, ensuring their active engagement. Conduct needs assessments to identify local community needs and job opportunities, and tailor center activities accordingly. Coordinate with local partners to provide skills development, job placement, and entrepreneurship training for women and girls. Ensure proper scheduling and logistical arrangements for program activities, oversee the implementation of women's economic empowerment initiatives, and submit timely reports.
  • Coordination: Organize and facilitate meetings, events, and trainings with local stakeholders. Build partnerships with local authorities, NGOs, CBOs, and the private sector. Represent the program in internal and external coordination meetings, and contribute to the development of communication materials such as reports and web articles. Collect and report data for program monitoring and evaluation, and document good practices and success stories.
  • Protection Support: Collaborate with the UN Women protection focal point to maintain a referral system in each center. Provide immediate referrals as needed and oversee the delivery of protection-related awareness sessions. Engage men and boys in awareness-raising on gender-based violence (GBV) and women's leadership. Participate in interagency coordination spaces as required.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of secondary education is required, with a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related fields being desirable. The candidate must possess strong coordination skills and experience in implementing field-level programs focused on gender equality and women's empowerment. Experience in managing protection referral systems and delivering GBV awareness sessions is also required. The ability to engage with various stakeholders, including government entities and NGOs, is essential.

Educational Background:
The position requires at least secondary education, with a preference for candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related fields. This educational background is important for understanding the complexities of gender issues and the socio-economic factors affecting women's empowerment.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of experience in implementing field-level programs that focus on gender equality, women's empowerment, and protection, ideally within humanitarian or development settings. Strong coordination skills with government entities, NGOs, and CBOs are essential, along with experience in organizing trainings and community engagement activities. Demonstrated ability to manage protection referral systems and deliver GBV awareness sessions is also required.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic and English is required for this position. Proficiency in both languages is essential for effective communication with local stakeholders and for reporting purposes.

Additional Notes:
The position is based in Amman, Jordan, and involves regular travel within the middle governorates. The role is full-time and may require participation in various trainings and workshops.
