Job Overview: The position of Especialista de energía en hidrógeno verde para Honduras is focused on the procurement process for green hydrogen energy initiatives in Honduras. The role is designed for an individual contractor who will work remotely for a period of 8 months. The specialist will be responsible for providing expertise in the development and implementation of green hydrogen projects, ensuring that they align with UNDP's sustainability goals and the specific needs of Honduras. The position requires a deep understanding of energy systems, particularly in the context of renewable energy sources, and the ability to engage with various stakeholders, including government entities, private sector partners, and local communities. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Especialista de energía en hidrógeno verde para Honduras include but are not limited to:
Conducting comprehensive assessments of the current energy landscape in Honduras, focusing on the potential for green hydrogen development.
Collaborating with local and international stakeholders to identify opportunities for investment and partnership in green hydrogen projects.
Developing project proposals and procurement documents that meet UNDP standards and align with national energy policies.
Providing technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle, from inception to implementation and evaluation.
Monitoring and reporting on project progress, ensuring that objectives are met within the established timelines and budgets.
Facilitating workshops and training sessions to build capacity among local stakeholders regarding green hydrogen technologies and practices.
Engaging in policy dialogue with government officials to promote the integration of green hydrogen into national energy strategies.
Ensuring compliance with environmental and social safeguards in all project activities.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include:
A strong background in energy systems, particularly in renewable energy and hydrogen technologies.
Familiarity with UNDP procurement processes and policies is highly desirable.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a minimum of a Master's degree in Energy Engineering, Environmental Science, Renewable Energy, or a related field. A PhD in a relevant discipline would be an advantage, as would additional certifications in project management or procurement.
Experience: The position requires at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the energy sector, with a focus on renewable energy projects. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of procurement and project implementation, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successful project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the position will involve extensive communication with local stakeholders in Honduras. Proficiency in English is also required, as it is the working language of UNDP and necessary for reporting and documentation purposes. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region would be considered an asset.
Additional Notes: This position is offered as a remote contract for a duration of 8 months.
