Interns will engage in activities related to fundraising, research, proposal drafting, event organization, and advocacy, contributing to the UN's mission of empowering youth globally. Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a range of tasks that support the UN Youth Office's objectives. These include assisting in the development of a fundraising operational plan that aligns with the UN Youth Office’s Strategic Plan for 2025-202
Interns will conduct research to identify potential funding sources and assist in drafting funding proposals and concept notes. They will also help organize meetings, events, and networking opportunities to highlight the impact of youth-led initiatives and attract donor interest. Additionally, interns will support storytelling and advocacy efforts in fundraising campaigns, draft briefing notes, talking points, background notes, and speeches, and perform other duties as assigned by their supervisor. This role requires adaptability and a willingness to engage in various aspects of youth development and fundraising.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent), or be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). While professional work experience is not required for this internship, a field of study related to the internship is necessary. Good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word and MS PowerPoint, is essential. Experience in youth engagement or related processes is considered an asset, and experience in fundraising processes is desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates should be students in their final year of a bachelor's degree program, or enrolled in or have completed a master's or Ph.D. program. The educational background should ideally be related to fields such as international relations, development studies, social sciences, or other relevant disciplines that align with the objectives of the UN Youth Office.
Experience: While no professional work experience is required, candidates should have relevant academic experience or internships that demonstrate their understanding of youth issues and development processes. Experience in youth engagement initiatives or fundraising activities will be advantageous for applicants.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another official United Nations language, such as French, is desirable and may enhance the candidate's application.
