Job Overview:
The Safeguards Traineeship Programme aims to enhance the pool of qualified candidates from developing countries for positions as safeguards inspectors within the IAEA or their national nuclear organizations. The coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the educational activities of the traineeship, ensuring that participants gain the necessary technical skills and knowledge about nuclear techniques and their application at both facility and state levels. This role involves not only coordination but also the provision of technical expertise to facilitate effective training and learning outcomes for the trainees.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Technical Coordinator will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities including: preparing, organizing, implementing, and reporting on the activities of the Safeguards Traineeship Programme; providing training through the preparation and delivery of case studies and specific studies; liaising with various supporting sections and divisions; facilitating communication between the Safeguards Training Section, trainees, sponsors, and other stakeholders; scheduling speakers for training sessions; monitoring the progress of trainees' theses and practical performance; evaluating and reporting on the learning outcomes of trainees; drafting and submitting a final report on the programme that includes implementation details and recommendations for improvements; and continuously updating the course materials to incorporate new information and teaching methodologies, as well as enhancing the online training platform.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Physics, International Relations, or a related field pertinent to international nuclear safeguards. A minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in preparing, conducting, delivering, and evaluating training courses, preferably within the nuclear or safeguards domain, is essential. Additionally, candidates should exhibit strong competencies in communication, teamwork, planning and organization, and achieving results, as well as functional competencies such as knowledge sharing and learning, judgment and decision-making, and technical/scientific credibility. Familiarity with the nuclear fuel cycle or nuclear instrumentation is required, while knowledge of international safeguards is considered an asset. Experience in technical cooperation programs or working with developing countries is also advantageous, as is familiarity with learning management systems and online training tools.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree is required, specifically in fields such as Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Physics, International Relations, or other areas related to international nuclear safeguards. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of nuclear technology and its implications for global security and safety.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least five years of relevant experience in the nuclear or safeguards field, particularly in the preparation, delivery, and evaluation of training programs. This experience should demonstrate a strong capability in managing educational activities and ensuring effective learning outcomes for participants.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of other official IAEA languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance communication with a broader range of stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy offers a daily fee of up to €320, contingent on the candidate's qualifications and experience. If travel is required as part of the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs will be covered. It is important to note that health coverage and pension fund responsibilities will fall on the incumbent.
