Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position at UNICEF involves providing emotional support and prevention assistance to the Bolivian community through a call center service. Volunteers will work in shifts of 8-10 hours per week, during hours agreed upon with their direct supervisor. This role is designed to offer emotional accompaniment and support, particularly to vulnerable populations such as women in violent situations, migrants, and the LGBTQI+ community. Selected volunteers will undergo comprehensive training on care protocols, case reception, call center management, and remote interaction tools. The position emphasizes the importance of ethical conduct and confidentiality, with ongoing monitoring by UNICEF Bolivia to ensure the safety and integrity of both volunteers and beneficiaries. Volunteers are encouraged to actively participate in synchronous training sessions and periodic activities organized by UNICEF Bolivia.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide emotional support and prevention assistance through a call center service to the Bolivian community.
  • Work in shifts of 8-10 hours per week, adhering to schedules set by the supervisor.
  • Participate in comprehensive training on care protocols, case management, and call center operations.
  • Engage with individuals of all ages, prioritizing vulnerable populations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards throughout the volunteer assignment.
  • Report any emotional distress or ethical concerns to the designated supervisor immediately.
  • Complete mandatory self-guided training courses and participate in synchronous training sessions.
  • Ensure a distraction-free workspace to provide effective support.
  • Collaborate with supervisors for guidance and support during the assignment.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide emotional support.
  • Commitment to ethical standards and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work in a remote environment and manage time effectively.
  • Willingness to participate in training and continuous learning.
  • Technical proficiency with computers and call center tools.
  • Empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable populations.

Educational Background:
A background in psychology, social work, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. Volunteers should have a strong understanding of emotional support principles and the ability to engage with diverse populations.

Experience:
Previous experience in counseling, social work, or volunteer roles that involve direct interaction with individuals in need is highly desirable. Familiarity with call center operations or remote support services is a plus.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the service is provided to the Bolivian community. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly indigenous languages or English, is considered an asset.

This is a volunteer position with no financial compensation. Volunteers must sign a confidentiality and ethical commitment declaration before starting. Continuous monitoring will be conducted by UNICEF Bolivia to ensure compliance with ethical standards. Volunteers are encouraged to complete self-guided courses available on the virtual learning platform, with optional specialized courses available for certification. A reliable internet connection and a suitable workspace are essential for this role.
