Job Overview:
The logistics-officer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Officer position at WFP involves contributing to the daily planning and coordination of logistics operations under the direct supervision of the Logistics Chief or designated supervisor. The role is crucial in ensuring that logistics operations are cost-effective and meet the set objectives. The officer will be responsible for supporting or managing logistics projects and operational activities in accordance with standard processes, which directly contribute to the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries. This position requires a proactive approach to collecting and analyzing data, making recommendations for improving local logistics operations, and ensuring compliance with WFP's global logistics policies and standards. The Logistics Officer will also play a key role in capacity building for WFP staff and partners, ensuring that they are equipped to deliver food assistance efficiently and effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: contributing to the development of logistics plans and processes; supporting or managing logistics projects in line with standard procedures; collecting and analyzing data to recommend actions for improving logistics performance; conducting financial analyses and budget reviews; assisting in the operational planning and management of the supply chain; verifying documentation and preparing for customs clearance; providing technical support to other units; supervising junior staff; compiling data for accurate reporting; supporting capacity building initiatives; developing productive working relationships with colleagues; applying logistics preparedness practices for emergencies; participating in logistics capacity assessments; and performing any other tasks as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a higher education degree in transportation economics, supply chain management, logistics, engineering, business management, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with additional years of relevant professional experience and/or training may be acceptable. The position requires at least three years of relevant professional experience in logistics and supply chain management, with a minimum of two years in goods management. Experience in commercial or humanitarian transport sectors, market condition monitoring, customs clearance, procurement coordination, warehouse management, and enterprise systems is also essential.

Educational Background:
A higher education degree in a relevant field such as transportation economics, supply chain management, logistics, engineering, or business management is required. A first-level university degree with additional relevant experience may also be considered acceptable. Continuous professional development through training and courses related to logistics and supply chain management is highly valued.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in logistics and supply chain management, with at least two years specifically in goods management. Experience in the commercial or humanitarian transport sectors is crucial, as is familiarity with customs clearance processes and procurement coordination. Candidates should also have experience in monitoring market conditions and trends, managing shipments, and utilizing enterprise systems for logistics operations.

Languages:
Fluency in French (level C) is mandatory, while proficiency in English (level B) is also required. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication within the diverse environment of WFP.
