Job Overview:
The Associate in the Malaria Control and Prevention program will play a crucial role in supporting Cameroon’s National Malaria Control Program (NMCP). This position involves strengthening entomological surveillance and improving the planning, implementation, and evaluation of vector control interventions. The Associate will work closely with CHAI teams and government partners to analyze entomological and epidemiological data, identify evidence-based solutions, and contribute to innovative approaches to combat malaria transmission. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement to effectively address malaria control challenges in Cameroon.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Entomology and Vector Control Associate will provide technical assistance to the NMCP on entomological surveillance and vector control interventions. Responsibilities include conducting rigorous analyses of entomological and epidemiological data, supporting the design and implementation of entomological surveys, and monitoring insecticide resistance. The Associate will collaborate with government and partners to identify intervention coverage gaps, contribute to monitoring and evaluation of vector control campaigns, and rapidly adapt work plans to address emerging challenges. Additionally, the Associate will draft strategic plans, technical guidelines, and donor proposals, and translate technical evidence into actionable recommendations for programmatic decision-making. Building strong relationships with stakeholders and promoting innovation in malaria vector control interventions will also be key responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience, demonstrating success in managing a diverse portfolio of projects, particularly in malaria vector control. A Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, parasitology, biology, entomology, or a related scientific field is required. Basic knowledge of entomology and vector control interventions is essential, along with expert proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Candidates should have experience in designing and implementing entomological surveillance systems and evaluating the efficacy of vector control tools. Knowledge of global health guidelines from organizations like the WHO regarding malaria control is also necessary.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, parasitology, biology, entomology, or a related scientific field is required for this position. An advanced degree in a relevant field is strongly preferred and may enhance a candidate's competitiveness for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in managing projects related to malaria vector control. Proven experience collaborating with Cameroon's NMCP and a strong track record of writing technical reports and scientific publications are significant assets.

Languages:
Candidates must be fully proficient in English and French, with excellent written and oral communication skills in both languages. Fluency in a relevant local language is considered a significant advantage.
