Job Overview:
The Digital Communications and Content Development Associate (Bangla) will play a vital role in enhancing the communication capacity of the Bangladesh Election Commission (BEC) as part of the BALLOT project. This position is crucial for producing engaging and informative content in Bengali that fosters public understanding of the electoral process and encourages civic participation. The associate will work under the direct supervision of the Chief Technical Advisor (CTA) of the BALLOT Project, collaborating closely with the BEC to ensure that communication strategies are effective and aligned with democratic values. The role involves creating content for various platforms, translating materials, and supporting media relations, all aimed at promoting transparency and public confidence in the electoral process.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Digital Communications and Content Development Associate (Bangla) will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Developing creative Bangla-language content for social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and X/Twitter to engage diverse audiences, particularly youth and women.
  • Drafting and editing press releases, public notices, and campaign materials in Bangla for dissemination across print, electronic, and online channels.
  • Translating and adapting English-language materials into Bangla, ensuring that the content is accurate, accessible, and culturally relevant.
  • Assisting in the conceptualization and production of audiovisual content, including scripts, subtitles, infographics, and short videos.
  • Supporting coordination efforts with national media and content production agencies to enhance outreach.
  • Drafting key messages and talking points for BEC spokespersons and senior officials to ensure consistent communication.
  • Collaborating with the BALLOT communication and visibility team to ensure branding aligns with UNDP and donor visibility guidelines.
  • Documenting stories of impact and lessons learned from BEC’s communication and voter outreach initiatives.
  • Performing any other duties related to the assignment as requested by the direct supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong qualifications, including:
  • Proven experience in digital communications, content development, or a related field.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in Bangla, with a strong command of English.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital content strategies.
  • Ability to create engaging and informative content tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Experience in working with governmental or non-governmental organizations is an advantage.
  • A commitment to promoting democratic values and human rights principles.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas will be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's profile for this position.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in digital communications, content development, or public relations. Experience working in a multicultural environment and familiarity with electoral processes or governance issues will be highly regarded.

Languages:
Fluency in Bangla is mandatory, as the role involves creating content in this language. Proficiency in English is also required, as it is the working language of UN agencies. Knowledge of other languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
