Job Overview: The position is part of the Support Project for the Implementation of the Paris Agreement (SPA), which advises the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) in Germany. The project focuses on assisting countries in implementing their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and establishing transparency systems. The intern will support the team in various initiatives, including the NDC Partnership and the Partnership on Transparency in the Paris Agreement (PATPA). The internship will provide insights into the daily operations of the project team, allowing the intern to participate in meetings and work independently on topics relevant to the unit's tasks. The internship is expected to last six months, starting on January 1, 2026, and will involve supporting the preparation of documents and events related to the project.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for several key tasks, including:
Assisting in the preparation of documents and meetings for the German government's consultation regarding its membership in the NDC Partnership.
Supporting the organization and follow-up of regional workshops for the PATPA, which may include virtual and in-person meetings, as well as managing presentations, agendas, and participant lists.
Contributing to the project's public relations efforts, including maintaining and updating the PATPA website.
Assisting with internal knowledge management, reporting, organizational tasks, and communication activities related to the project.
Supporting the planning and execution of events within the project framework.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a completed Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as political science, environmental studies, social sciences, or a related discipline. They should have prior knowledge of climate policy topics, particularly regarding NDCs and the processes of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Strong communication skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to work independently and in a structured manner under pressure are essential. Additionally, candidates should have some practical experience in organizing events and workshops, whether virtual or in-person.
Educational Background: A completed Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required for this position. This educational background should ideally include studies in political science, environmental science, social sciences, or similar areas that provide a foundation for understanding climate policy and international cooperation.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have some practical experience, particularly in organizing events and workshops. This experience can be gained through internships, volunteer work, or previous employment in relevant fields. Familiarity with climate policy and international development contexts will be advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in both English and German is mandatory, with a proficiency level of C1 or C
Additionally, it is desirable for candidates to have strong skills in one or more of the following languages: Portuguese, Spanish, or French, at a C1 level or higher.

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a study program that requires an internship or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
