Job Overview: The Project Manager for Social Protection will play a crucial role in implementing and overseeing the PROSPECTS initiative, which aims to improve the living standards of forcibly displaced persons (FDPs) and host communities (HCs) in Egypt. This position involves leading the timely execution, monitoring, and evaluation of project activities related to social protection. The incumbent will work closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies, to design and revise project work plans, ensuring alignment with ILO policies and objectives. The role requires a strong focus on enhancing socio-economic opportunities for refugees and host communities through education, livelihoods, and social protection systems. The Project Manager will also be responsible for providing technical assistance, conducting research, and ensuring effective communication and visibility of the project at both national and international levels.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of social protection activities within the project, ensuring compliance with ILO policies and regulations.
Collaborate with ILO constituents and relevant organizations to design and revise annual work plans and budget proposals for social protection initiatives.
Draft project proposals, concept notes, and reports, providing technical inputs for country analyses related to social protection.
Monitor project progress by reviewing work plans, budget proposals, and reports for clarity and completeness.
Provide technical assistance to national partners in defining and implementing social protection policies.
Offer legal and policy advice to government and social partners on social protection activities.
Organize training and awareness-raising programs to enhance understanding of social protection.
Ensure quality technical inputs and conduct research in line with ILO standards. 1
Support cooperation activities in social protection and collaborate with other ILO programs for enhanced outcomes. 1
Develop a knowledge management system for technical activities related to social protection. 1
Represent the project in various forums and maintain coordination with stakeholders. 1

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a first-level university degree in social science, development studies, or a relevant field. They should have a strong understanding of social protection policies and experience in project management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Familiarity with UN policies and procedures, particularly in relation to social issues, is highly desirable. Proven experience working with government bodies and development partners is essential, along with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
Educational Background: A first-level university degree in social science, development studies, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of social protection and development issues.
Experience: Candidates should have at least three years of professional experience at the national level in project management, with a focus on social protection policies. Experience working with refugees and asylum seekers is a strong advantage. Languages: Excellent command of the English language is mandatory, along with being a native Arabic speaker. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.
