Job Overview:
The position of Mechanical Engineer, Remote Handling, is a critical role within the Assembly and Commissioning Support Division of the Engineering Services Department (ESD) at the ITER Organization. This role involves overseeing the entire engineering life cycle for remote handling systems, which are essential for the assembly and maintenance of the ITER project. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the specification, design, qualification, procurement, installation, integration, commissioning, and maintenance of remote handling tools. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of engineers and technical experts to ensure that all deliverables meet project schedules and budgets while adhering to high-quality standards. The role requires a systematic approach to engineering tasks and a commitment to continuous improvement and skill development. The ESD plays a vital role in providing the necessary engineering resources and services to support the successful completion of the ITER project, making this position integral to the project's overall success.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Engineer, Remote Handling, will have a range of primary and additional responsibilities. Primary responsibilities include contributing to the delivery of mechanical designs and supporting engineering activities related to remote handling systems. The engineer will perform mechanical analyses to validate designs, write technical documentation for procurement and testing, and follow up on manufacturing processes, including qualification tests and final acceptance tests (FATs). The engineer will also collect and verify input data for design assignments and review deliverables produced by external design contractors. Additional responsibilities involve providing assistance to Domestic Agencies, contractors, and ITER groups in engineering, research and development, interface control, and procurement work. The engineer will review detailed workshop drawings, installation procedures, and inspection and test plans, issuing reports as necessary. It is important to note that job descriptions may evolve, and the staff member may be required to undertake other duties aligned with the primary responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Mechanical Engineer, Remote Handling position must possess a master's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline. The entry grade for this position begins at P1, and the final grade offered will be determined by the IO Director General.
