Job Posting Organization: Solidarités International (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association that has been operational for over 40 years. The organization is dedicated to providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters, focusing on meeting their basic needs for food, water, and shelter. The organization operates in 26 countries and employs approximately 3,200 individuals, including expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, and a few volunteers. Job Overview: The Reporting & Communications Officer (RCO) plays a crucial role under the supervision of the Grants Manager. The primary responsibility of the RCO is to produce and synthesize high-quality reports, proposals, assessment reports, and other documents intended for external distribution. This position requires close collaboration with the Grants and Partnerships Coordinator, the Grants Manager, and various program and support teams within the mission. The RCO is also tasked with enhancing internal communication at the coordination level and between field bases. Given the sensitive nature of external communication in the current context, the RCO will be involved in developing a communication strategy aimed at external audiences. The role demands meticulous attention to detail and strict adherence to donor guidelines and deadlines, as well as the ability to align various teams and stakeholders to ensure consistency in proposal development and manage diverse inputs to create cohesive and accurate project documents.
Duties and Responsibilities: The RCO's duties include but are not limited to: producing high-quality reports and proposals that meet donor requirements; synthesizing assessment reports and other documentation for external audiences; coordinating with various teams to gather necessary information for reports; ensuring compliance with donor guidelines; developing and implementing a communication strategy for external stakeholders; improving internal communication processes; and representing SI at forums and meetings with donors. The RCO must also navigate security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security constraints and adapt to the challenges posed by the operational environment, including curfews and movement tracking procedures, while maintaining a focus on the organization's mission and objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess excellent writing skills and have prior experience in writing proposals and reports. A solid understanding of donor requirements, particularly from organizations such as DG ECHO, USAID, CDCS, AFD, SDC, or UHF, is essential. Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills are necessary for effectively representing SI at various forums and with donors. The ability to communicate ideas clearly and persuasively, both orally and in writing, is critical. Candidates should also demonstrate diplomacy and the capacity to work effectively in a multicultural context.
Educational Background: A degree in political science, humanitarian action, development, international relations, or law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the legal frameworks that govern it.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a first experience in writing proposals and reports, indicating that a background in similar roles or internships would be beneficial. Familiarity with donor guidelines and the ability to navigate the challenges of proposal development in a humanitarian context are also important.
Languages: Professional fluency in spoken and written English and French is mandatory. Knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Russian is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in the operational environment.
Additional Notes: The position is a salaried role with a starting gross salary of EUR 2035 per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 1850 and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem of USD 700 is provided. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment. The contract duration is for 6 months, with a system of alternating work and time off implemented at the rate of 7 working days every three months, along with a USD 850 break allowance. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and ophthalmological care, as well as repatriation and war risk coverage. Living conditions are favorable, with offices and guesthouses located in the city center, providing access to various amenities and services.
