Job Overview:
The Program Director will play a crucial role in overseeing the management of program implementation in Sudan, ensuring that all activities are executed effectively and in alignment with the organization's strategic goals. This position requires a strong focus on quality reporting, financial management, and accountability, all while working under the guidance of the Deputy Country Director Programs. The Program Director will coordinate with various stakeholders, including Area Managers and Technical Advisors, to ensure that program interventions are timely, effective, and responsive to the needs of targeted beneficiaries. The role demands a high level of performance in project cycle management, team management, and capacity building, particularly in enhancing the skills of Project Managers and field teams. The Program Director will also be responsible for addressing administrative and programmatic challenges to ensure that Relief International can deliver quality humanitarian aid efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Program Director will be accountable for the overall implementation of Sudan's project portfolio, ensuring compliance with both internal and donor regulations. Key responsibilities include identifying risks in project implementation and coordinating with internal stakeholders to find solutions. The Program Director will oversee program and budget management, ensuring timely mobilization of projects and active participation in program kick-off meetings. They will monitor project implementation through various tools and meetings, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and timely reporting. The role also involves managing program budgets, analyzing financial reports, and participating in audits. People management is a critical aspect, as the Program Director will lead the day-to-day management of Program Managers, support recruitment efforts, and promote a positive working environment. Additionally, the Program Director will focus on partnership management, developing local partnerships, and ensuring accountability among partners. Emergency preparedness and response will also be part of the responsibilities, requiring the Program Director to support field offices in developing adaptive programs for humanitarian crises.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Program Director position must possess a dynamic and results-oriented mindset, with a Master's degree in a relevant field or a Bachelor's degree accompanied by significant work experience in multi-sectoral program or community development. A minimum of five years of successful experience in a similar role within RI or a comparable international NGO at the country level is required. The ideal candidate should have experience managing institutional partnerships with NGOs and donors, as well as a strong background in program management, financial oversight, and reporting. Strategic thinking, creativity, and strong work ethics are essential, along with familiarity with multiple donors such as ECHO, EU, FCDO, USAID, and others. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are mandatory, along with proficiency in MS Office applications.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in a relevant subject area, such as international development, public administration, or a related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with equivalent work experience and technical expertise in multi-sectoral program management or community development will be considered. The educational qualifications should reflect a strong foundation in the principles of humanitarian aid and development practices.

Experience:
The position requires at least five years of relevant experience in a similar or related role, particularly within the context of international NGOs. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing development and humanitarian assistance programs, including experience in project implementation, financial management, and monitoring and reporting. Experience in working with partner organizations in both humanitarian and development settings is highly valued, as is familiarity with the complexities of operating in conflict-affected areas.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as effective communication is crucial for program implementation and reporting. While English is the primary language required, knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region may be considered an asset, enhancing the ability to engage with local communities and stakeholders.
