Job Overview: The Local coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the local coordination and implementation of activities under the UN Joint Programme aimed at preventing violence against women, girls, and boys in Montenegro. This position requires close collaboration with UNICEF Montenegro and involves direct supervision by the project manager at UN Women Albania. The Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring effective implementation of project activities, enhancing multisectoral cooperation, and improving services for survivors of gender-based violence. The role includes providing technical advice, organizing events and trainings, and facilitating partnerships with local institutions and stakeholders. The Coordinator will also contribute to the development of training modules and policy papers, ensuring that gender-responsive budgeting and evidence-based policymaking are prioritized in the project.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Local Technical Coordinator will have a wide range of responsibilities, including:
Overall coordination and technical advice on the implementation of all project activities under the UN Women component of the UN Joint Programme.
Supporting the organization of events and trainings, coordinating with national and local institutions, and ensuring effective follow-up with partners.
Facilitating regular liaison and partnership building with local institutions, including various ministries and civil society organizations.
Contributing technical inputs to the development of training modules and conducting reviews related to Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB) and Ending Violence Against Women (EVAW).
Engaging with UN Agencies, particularly UNICEF, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Identifying and monitoring key processes and policy dialogues related to EVAW and GRB.
Collaborating with consultants and experts to ensure alignment of project deliverables.
Contributing to advocacy and communication efforts to raise visibility of project achievements. 1
Supporting regular donor and internal reporting for UN Women.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in international development, gender, human rights, social sciences, economics, or related fields. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. The position requires a strong understanding of gender equality issues and the ability to provide sound analysis and high-quality reports. Excellent writing skills in English and Serb-Montenegrin are essential, along with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in relevant fields such as international development, gender studies, human rights, social sciences, or economics. A first-level university degree may be accepted if accompanied by additional qualifying experience, demonstrating the candidate's capability to fulfill the role's responsibilities effectively.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in project coordination, particularly involving local and national stakeholders in the field of gender equality. Prior experience working with national partners, civil society organizations, or international actors to prevent and address violence against women is essential. Experience in leading or coordinating initiatives related to violence against women, conducting research, and providing services to survivors is highly valued. Familiarity with gender-responsive budgeting will be considered an asset, and previous experience with the UN system or similar international organizations is advantageous.
Languages: Proficiency in written and spoken Serbian/Montenegrin and English is required for this position. This bilingual capability is crucial for effective communication with local stakeholders and for the preparation of reports and documentation related to the project.
Additional Notes: This position is a home-based consultancy in Montenegro. The role is expected to involve regular communication and collaboration with various stakeholders, including government ministries and civil society organizations. The position may require occasional travel for meetings and events.
