The organization has been actively responding to the humanitarian crisis in Northeast Nigeria for five years, providing essential services to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and host communities. Job Overview:
The Assistant Technical Officer (ATO) for Child Protection will play a crucial role in addressing the humanitarian crisis in Northeast Nigeria, particularly focusing on the well-being of vulnerable children. The ATO will be responsible for the effective implementation of child protection activities, ensuring that children affected by abuse, violence, neglect, and exploitation receive the necessary support. This position requires a proactive approach to community mobilization, case management, and coordination with local stakeholders to create a safe environment for children. The ATO will work closely with community volunteers and local authorities to enhance child protection mechanisms and promote awareness of child rights and protection issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The ATO will implement individualized case management for children in need, engage with caregivers, and provide referrals to other service providers. Responsibilities include identifying children in need of alternative care, monitoring their safety, and working with community volunteers to support children with special needs. The ATO will also conduct training for community volunteers, oversee awareness campaigns, and contribute to the development of educational materials on child protection. Regular reporting and data management will be essential, along with participation in coordination meetings and collaboration with other sectors such as health and nutrition.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a BA/BS in social work, sociology, social sciences, psychology, or a related field, with at least 1-3 years of relevant experience in gender-based violence (GBV) programming, child protection case management, and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support (PSS). A strong understanding of child protection principles and experience working with IDPs or refugees is essential. Familiarity with Nigerian law enforcement systems and NGOs is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to child safeguarding principles.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, social sciences, psychology, or a similar field is required. Additional training or certifications in child protection, GBV, or related areas will be advantageous.

Experience:
The position requires 1-3 years of experience in child protection case management and psychosocial support, particularly in humanitarian contexts. Experience in facilitating training and mentorship for local communities is also important, as is a proven track record of working with vulnerable populations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, along with proficiency in local languages such as Hausa and Kanuri. Knowledge of additional local dialects may be beneficial.
