Job Overview: The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the Strategic Partnerships and Policy (SPP) Team at UNDP China. Under the guidance of the Programme Associate, the intern will engage in various aspects of China’s international development efforts. This includes liaising with partners both within China and internationally, as well as collaborating with other members of the UNDP China country office. The intern's responsibilities will encompass providing programmatic support for Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund (GDF) projects, among other initiatives. The position is designed to offer a comprehensive learning experience in international development, enhancing the intern's understanding of global partnerships and policy frameworks.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will assist in ongoing GDF and other south-south and trilateral cooperation projects, supporting the Programme Associate and other team members in various tasks. Key responsibilities include: revising proposals, coordinating project activities, facilitating communication, and collecting data. The intern will also provide administrative support, which includes translation and interpretation services, taking meeting minutes, booking conferences, and preparing for workshops. Additionally, the intern will be responsible for coordinating and communicating with stakeholders, preparing reports, and creating communication materials. The intern may also be tasked with other duties as directed by the supervisor and Team Leader, ensuring a well-rounded experience in the field of international development.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a degree in a development-related field such as international relations, development studies, sociology, or economics. They must meet one of the following educational criteria: be enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program, be in the final year of a Bachelor’s program, or have graduated within the past year from a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program. Alternatively, candidates may be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program. This educational background is essential to ensure that the intern has the necessary theoretical knowledge and understanding of the development sector.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this internship include being enrolled in or having recently completed a degree in a relevant field such as international relations, development studies, sociology, or economics. Candidates should ideally be in a Master’s or PhD program, in their final year of a Bachelor’s program, or have graduated within the last year. Languages: Proficiency in both English and Mandarin Chinese is required, particularly in reading and writing. Additional Notes: The internship is structured to provide a comprehensive learning experience, with interns expected to fulfill specific conditions. Interns must provide proof of enrollment in a health insurance plan and a medical certificate of good health before commencing the internship. They will receive a monthly stipend and are entitled to 1.5 days of leave per month. It is the intern's responsibility to obtain necessary visas and arrange travel to and from the internship location. All costs related to travel, visas, accommodations, and living expenses are to be covered by the intern or their sponsoring institution. Interns are not considered staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity. Additionally, the organization does not charge any fees for the application or recruitment process.
