Job Overview:
The Migration Health Consultant position is integral to the Migration Health Division, specifically within the Global Health Assessment Program (GHAP). The consultant will be responsible for conducting health assessments for immigrants and refugees, ensuring compliance with the technical instructions of the destination countries. This role involves filing relevant information in designated systems and delivering related health services. The consultant will also be tasked with reporting the number of health assessments performed on a monthly basis, ensuring that all services provided meet the requirements set forth by IOM, UN, and national health authorities. The consultant will play a crucial role in facilitating the health integration of migrants and refugees, contributing to their overall well-being and successful resettlement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct migration health assessments for immigrants and refugees in accordance with the technical instructions of the receiving countries.
  • File health assessment results in relevant systems and platforms as required.
  • Deliver related health services, ensuring compliance with IOM, UN, and national health authorities' requirements.
  • Report on the number of health assessments performed on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain accurate records of health assessments and related services provided.
  • Collaborate with partner organizations and national health authorities to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Stay updated on the latest health assessment protocols and guidelines relevant to migration health.
  • Participate in training and capacity-building initiatives as required.
  • Uphold IOM's values and competencies in all interactions and service delivery.

Required Qualifications:
  • Certified physician (e.g., GP, cardiologist, pulmonologist) with a valid medical practice license in Kazakhstan.
  • Ability to work with patients of all age groups.
  • Strong understanding of migration health assessments and related protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to ethical standards and professional integrity.

Educational Background:
The candidate must possess a medical degree from a recognized institution, along with a valid medical practice license in Kazakhstan. Specialization in areas such as general practice, cardiology, or pulmonology is preferred but not limited to these fields. Continuous professional development and training in migration health assessments are advantageous.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of independent medical practice experience is required, which must include experience in conducting migration health assessments. The candidate should demonstrate a solid track record of working with diverse populations, particularly in the context of migration and refugee health.

Languages:
Proficiency in English, Russian, and Kazakh is mandatory. Knowledge of IOM's official languages, which include French and Spanish, is considered an asset. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, potentially through written and/or oral assessments.

Additional Notes:
This consultancy position does not require travel. The appointment is contingent upon funding confirmation and the candidate's medical fitness for appointment. IOM provides coverage against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan, free of charge, for the duration of the consultancy. However, consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accidents or illnesses. IOM maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding conduct that contradicts the organization's aims and objectives, including discrimination and harassment.
