Job Overview:

The Country Director will be responsible for driving NRC’s strategic vision and operational response in a complex humanitarian setting. The role involves motivating and coaching staff to create effective teams, promoting accountability and adherence to humanitarian principles, and managing advocacy efforts in Mali. Proven experience in leading change management and fostering organizational adaptability, as well as knowledge of the Sahel region, is highly valued. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Country Director will undertake a variety of duties and responsibilities, including:
  • Analyzing the political and humanitarian context in Mali and adapting NRC programs accordingly.
  • Motivating and coaching staff to create effective teams, with a focus on empowering the Country Management Group.
  • Promoting accountability and the highest ethical standards, including safeguarding and adherence to humanitarian principles.
  • Leading all NRC advocacy efforts in Mali and contributing to regional and global advocacy initiatives.
  • Developing and enforcing policies to promote diversity within the organization.
  • Serving as a proactive member of the Extended Regional Management Team, fostering collaboration with other Country Offices and contributing to the development of the Central and West Africa Region.
  • Engaging actively with the Burkina Faso and Niger Country Offices to ensure holistic advocacy and programming.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Senior Manager or Country Director in a humanitarian or recovery context. They should have experience in complex and volatile environments, with documented results related to the responsibilities of the position. Knowledge of leadership skills and a valid driver’s license are also required. Additionally, candidates should have experience in advocacy work and change management processes, as well as a strong understanding of the context in the Central Sahel region.
