Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is part of the UNEP Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), which is a strategic partnership between the United Nations and over 500 banks, insurers, and investors. The intern will support the Insurance Team in various capacities, including communication with insurance members and external stakeholders, program management of the Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI), and assisting with the organization of meetings and events. The intern will also conduct research on sustainable insurance topics and maintain the PSI web presence. This role is designed to provide the intern with hands-on experience in sustainable finance and the opportunity to manage tasks and small projects independently over time.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for supporting communication with insurance members and various external stakeholders, assisting in the program management of the PSI and other insurance initiatives, organizing meetings and events both logistically and in terms of content, conducting research on sustainable insurance topics, keeping the PSI web presence updated, participating in meetings and calls with insurance members and experts, assisting with other relevant tasks, and working on topics of personal interest. The intern will gradually take on more responsibilities and manage tasks independently as the internship progresses.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements at the time of application: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. Relevant studies in finance, insurance, economics, sustainable development, communications, environmental sciences, or international relations/affairs are preferred. Professional work experience is not required, but a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in a graduate program or in the final year of a bachelor's degree program, or have completed a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. program. Relevant educational backgrounds include studies in finance, insurance, economics, sustainable development, communications, environmental sciences, or international relations/affairs. Proof of enrollment or a copy of the degree certificate must be provided with the application.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should have relevant educational backgrounds or training that aligns with the internship's focus on sustainable finance and environmental issues. Experience in related fields, such as finance, insurance, or environmental sciences, will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is required for this internship, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another UN language, such as French, is desirable and will be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
The internship is expected to last for 6 months and is available in Geneva, Switzerland, or can be conducted remotely. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations, and all costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization. The United Nations does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process.
