Job Overview: The ICT/Administration/Finance Intern position at UNHCR MCO Washington is a full-time internship that provides an opportunity for individuals to gain practical experience in a large humanitarian organization. Interns will work under the supervision of the Senior IT Associate and the Head of the Administration Unit, assisting with various clerical and technical tasks. The internship aims to deepen the intern's understanding of UNHCR's operations, frameworks, and regulations while developing essential professional skills such as project management, teamwork, and communication. Interns will engage in a variety of activities, ensuring that they are well-rounded in their experience and exposure to the organization's work.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for maintaining financial records and budget monitoring systems, assisting with official travel requests, and preparing scheduled and special reports related to inventory, budgeting, and analytics. They will work closely with the Senior ICT Associate to maintain ICT systems and equipment, assist in requisitions of office equipment, and control the distribution and maintenance of inventory needs. Additionally, interns will perform other duties as required, which may include filing and other administrative tasks, ensuring that all activities align with UNHCR's standards and practices.
Required Qualifications: To be eligible for the internship, candidates must either be recent graduates who have completed their studies within the last two years or current students in a graduate or undergraduate program at an accredited university or higher education facility. Experience: The internship is designed for individuals who may not have extensive professional experience but are eager to learn and contribute to UNHCR's mission. Relevant experience, such as internships or volunteer work in administrative or ICT roles, will be beneficial but is not a strict requirement. The focus is on candidates who demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop their skills in a professional environment.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position. Additionally, proficiency in a second language such as Spanish, French, or Arabic is preferred, as it may enhance communication and collaboration within the diverse UNHCR workforce.

Interns are responsible for their housing, legal stay in the United States, health insurance, and any related documentation. UNHCR will provide a Food and Local Transportation Allowance (FLTA) for interns who do not receive financial support from other sources. The FLTA is calculated based on 50% of the monthly salary of the GS level 3 step 1 for the Washington, D.C. duty station and is prorated for part-time internships. It is important to note that the FLTA is not considered a source of income, and UNHCR will not provide tax-related documents.
