Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer (OV) position is designed to support UNV Pakistan's mission of promoting volunteerism and mobilizing volunteers. This role specifically focuses on translating and proofreading materials from English to Balochi, which is essential for ensuring equitable access to information for native speakers in Balochistan Province, Pakistan. By bridging language barriers, the OVs will contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 17, which emphasizes partnerships for the goals. The role is remote, meaning that the selected volunteers will not be stationed at any physical duty station or field office, allowing for flexibility and accessibility in their contributions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteers will be tasked with translating and proofreading content from English to Balochi. They are expected to ensure that translations are accurate, consistent in terminology, tone, and style, and fluent in the target language. The OVs will work under the direct supervision of the Coordination Support Assistant at the UNV Pakistan country office or a designated UN Communications Group focal point. Responsibilities include:

• Translating various types of content, including reports, social media posts, articles, and educational materials.
• Proofreading translations to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Adhering to deadlines, which may vary based on the urgency of the content.
• Participating in orientation and receiving guidance throughout the assignment.
• Managing a variable workload, which may range from 1 to 20 pages per week, depending on the needs of the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong language skills in both English and Balochi, with a proven ability to translate and proofread effectively. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the integrity of the source material are essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines. Familiarity with UN terminology and concepts is a plus, as is experience in translation or proofreading in a professional context.
