Job Overview:
The Public intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Information Intern position is situated within the Social Media Section of the Communications Campaigns Service, which is part of the Campaigns and Country Operations Division of the Department of Global Communications. This internship is designed to provide students with practical experience in social media management and communications within a global context. The intern will engage in various activities that support the UN's mission to disseminate information and engage with the public through social media platforms. The role requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight deadlines, as the intern will be responsible for creating and managing content across multiple social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The internship is hybrid, allowing for both in-person and remote work, and is expected to last for six months, beginning in November 2025.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: researching, compiling, drafting, and editing basic information for social media content; monitoring and analyzing social media statistics; gathering content from special events such as film screenings and concerts; assisting in the creation of original content for social media platforms; attending meetings as an observer; managing meeting agendas and drafting notes; and assisting with special projects as assigned. The intern will also be expected to demonstrate familiarity with digital photography and graphic design software, which will enhance the quality of the content produced.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet specific criteria: they must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, applicants should have a field of study closely related to the internship. Additionally, familiarity with software programs such as Canva, Trello, PowerPoint, and Adobe Photoshop is desirable, as is an interest in digital photography.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in their final year of a first university degree (bachelor's or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master's or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or completion must be provided with the application. The educational background should ideally be in communications, media studies, public relations, or a related field that aligns with the responsibilities of the internship.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required for this internship, applicants should demonstrate relevant academic experience or projects that showcase their skills in social media management, content creation, or communications. Experience with digital photography and graphic design software will be advantageous and should be highlighted in the application.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is desirable. Additionally, proficiency in Portuguese, Kiswahili, or Hindi may also be beneficial, enhancing the intern's ability to communicate in a diverse environment.

The internship is unpaid, and interns are responsible for their own travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses. Interns must provide their own hardware, software, and internet connection to perform the internship remotely.
