Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator position is integral to the implementation of a project aimed at enhancing the socio-economic integration of youth and women in Sao Tome and Principe through ecotourism. The role involves conducting labor market studies, developing tailored training programs, and promoting local entrepreneurship. The coordinator will work closely with national authorities, technical and financial partners, and the United Nations system to ensure that local skills are valued and that there is an inclusive approach to development that considers gender and youth. The position requires a proactive individual who can facilitate workshops, coordinate with various stakeholders, and ensure effective communication and collaboration among all parties involved in the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of tasks including:
  • Research, analysis, and statistics: Supporting the collection, analysis, and validation of data related to employment, skills, and the ecotourism sector. Providing technical support to ministries and partners to enrich project studies and reports.
  • Operational support and workshop organization: Organizing and facilitating workshops and consultations for youth and women, managing logistics for meetings and events, and ensuring effective documentation and participation.
  • Liaison and coordination: Acting as the focal point for communication among project partners, supporting local coordination with the UN system, and facilitating information sharing among stakeholders.
  • Monitoring, reporting, and evaluation: Contributing to the development of monitoring tools, collecting and analyzing project data, and preparing regular reports for stakeholders.
  • Diaspora mobilization and migration inclusion: Promoting the participation of the diaspora in project activities and supporting initiatives that enhance engagement and protection of citizens abroad.
  • Other tasks: Promoting an inclusive and gender-sensitive approach in all activities and supporting advocacy efforts for project visibility.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in social sciences, labor economics, statistics, development, tourism, or a related field with a minimum of four years of relevant experience. Alternatively, candidates with a secondary school diploma and at least six years of relevant experience will also be considered. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, as well as experience in project coordination and stakeholder engagement.

Educational Background:
A university degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, labor economics, statistics, development, or tourism is required. Candidates with a secondary school diploma may be considered if they have significant relevant experience. The educational qualifications must be from accredited institutions recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
Relevant experience in research, project operations, or coordination is essential, ideally within the fields of development, migration, or sustainable tourism. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the political, socio-economic, and cultural context of Sao Tome and Principe, along with proven experience in organizing workshops and multi-stakeholder meetings. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are crucial, as is an interest in diaspora mobilization and the inclusion of youth and women.

Languages:
Proficiency in French and/or Portuguese (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of English is considered an asset. The selection process will specifically evaluate language proficiency, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
