Job Overview:
The Consultant for UN Reform Activities will play a pivotal role in supporting the World Food Programme's initiatives related to the UN Reform (UN80 and Humanitarian Reset). This position is crucial for fostering a deeper understanding of the political context surrounding the UN80 initiative, which aims to enhance the effectiveness of the UN amid global uncertainties. The consultant will be responsible for providing analytical support and timely information to the Director of WFP’s New York office, ensuring that the organization is well-informed about member states' engagement in UN reform. The role requires a strong understanding of humanitarian assistance and development practices, as well as excellent diplomatic skills. The successful candidate will be expected to work under pressure and maintain discretion in a sensitive environment, while also demonstrating strong organizational and communication abilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: providing direct support to ongoing UN Reform activities; advocating for Resolution 2417; organizing and coordinating events related to the United Nations General Assembly; preparing briefing documents, policy-related documents, presentations, and supporting materials for various high-level meetings; coordinating inter-agency processes related to the UN Development System Reform; monitoring developments regarding financing of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and related trust funds; recommending priority issues for Executive Board discussions; assisting in the preparation of meeting agendas, taking minutes, and organizing logistics for meetings; and carrying out other duties as assigned by the Director, consistent with the consultant's experience and competencies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record of working effectively in high-pressure environments. The role requires a deep understanding of UN reform processes and the ability to engage diplomatically with various stakeholders. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to WFP's values and mission, showcasing their ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team setting. Familiarity with humanitarian assistance and development practices is essential, along with the capacity to provide coherent support to senior leadership.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required, typically including a graduate degree in international relations, public policy, humanitarian studies, or a related field. Candidates with advanced degrees or specialized training in UN reform or humanitarian assistance will be given preference. A strong academic record and relevant certifications may also enhance a candidate's profile.

Experience:
Candidates should have substantial experience in international relations, humanitarian assistance, or development work, ideally with a focus on UN reform initiatives. A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience is typically expected, with a demonstrated ability to engage with high-level stakeholders and contribute to policy development. Experience working within the UN system or with international organizations will be highly advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of WFP. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly French or Spanish, is considered a strong asset and may enhance a candidate's competitiveness for the position.
