Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: researching and documenting project data, processes, policies, and best practices in construction management; drafting and preparing reports, guidelines, and presentations; supporting knowledge management by capturing lessons learned and preparing official documents; providing logistical and administrative support for hybrid meetings; and coordinating with other UN offices and sections. The intern will also assist in overseeing budgetary aspects related to the facilities and infrastructure of UN Secretariat entities, ensuring that all projects align with the organization's goals and standards.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint, and possess good data visualization and presentation skills. Academic training in architecture, engineering, or construction management is desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or completion must be provided with the application. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations, and all costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions. For in-person internships in the United States, non-citizens must obtain a G-4 visa for full-time internships. The UN does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process.
