Job Overview: The UN Consultant for Programme Management will play a crucial role in enhancing the delivery and coordination of initiatives through effective project management and stakeholder engagement. The consultant will be responsible for producing analytical products that support leadership decision-making and improving internal processes to enhance operational efficiency. The position requires a proactive approach to project management, ensuring that initiatives are implemented coherently and predictably. Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Management and Coordination: The consultant will support the planning, scheduling, and implementation of various initiatives. This includes maintaining workplans, tracking milestones, and preparing progress updates. The consultant will coordinate with counterparts across the UN system to ensure timely information flow and alignment of activities. Additionally, the consultant will prepare briefing materials and talking points for senior leadership.
Analytical and Research Support: The consultant will conduct structured qualitative and quantitative analyses to inform decision-making on strategic initiatives. This involves synthesizing complex information into clear insights and recommendations, as well as drafting high-quality presentations and analytical products.
Process Improvement: The consultant will identify bottlenecks in current processes and propose improvements to streamline workflows. This includes strengthening coordination and enhancing the delivery of priority initiatives. The consultant will also support the development of project management tools that improve information accessibility and operational efficiency.
Stakeholder Engagement: The consultant will coordinate inputs from various UN entities involved in system-wide initiatives, follow up on actions, and document decisions and next steps. The consultant will also support the preparation and facilitation of workshops, consultations, and internal working sessions.
Required Qualifications: The position requires at least a first-level degree in management, economics, public policy, international affairs, social science, or related fields. A minimum of 3-7 years of experience in project or programme management, process improvement, or organizational strategy is required. Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including experience in facilitating cross-organizational collaboration, are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools such as Excel, SharePoint, and Teams is required. Experience in a professional services or consulting environment, as well as in designing and implementing organization-wide change management initiatives, is desirable. Additionally, experience in preparing high-quality presentation materials and using data visualization tools like Power BI is advantageous.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess at least a first-level degree in relevant fields such as management, economics, public policy, international affairs, or social sciences. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of project management and stakeholder engagement within the UN framework.
Experience: The consultant should have between 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in project or programme management, process improvement, or organizational strategy. This level of experience is necessary to effectively manage initiatives and engage with various stakeholders across the UN system.
Languages: Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. This proficiency is essential for effective communication and collaboration within the UN and with external stakeholders.
