Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is located within the Connectivity and Infrastructure Development Section (CIDS) of the Technology, Innovation, Connectivity, and Infrastructure Development Division (TICID) at the Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The primary focus of this internship is to support member states in achieving sustained economic growth and transformation by leveraging private sector resources and improving the business environment. Interns will work under the supervision of a staff member and are expected to contribute significantly to the work of the Section. The internship is full-time, lasting for six months, and requires a commitment of five days per week, totaling 35 hours. Interns will gain valuable experience in research, data analysis, and project support related to transport, energy, and economic development in Africa.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will assist officers in conducting analytical research on various transport development issues, including rail, road, air, maritime, and inland waterways transport, as well as road safety. They will compile, process, and analyze information and data related to transport in Africa, which may involve econometric skills and economic modeling approaches. Additionally, interns will support the Section in conducting programs and projects related to transport, energy, and economic development. They may also be required to carry out other tasks as needed by the Section and the Division, contributing to the overall mission of the ECA.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for the internship program, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed high school and possess a diploma; (b) be enrolled in or in the final academic year of a first university degree (Bachelor or equivalent), Master's, or Ph.D. program; or (c) be enrolled in or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. program. No prior work experience is required, but applicants should have a field of study closely related to the internship they are applying for. It is essential to provide proof of meeting these criteria during the application process.
Educational Background: Applicants must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's, or Ph.D. program, or have completed such a program.
