Job Overview:
The Senior security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Field Security Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of IOM personnel and operations in Guinea. This position involves providing specialized support to the Chief of Mission and assisting in the management of security risks associated with IOM's activities. The Senior Field Security Associate is expected to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders, including the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS), local authorities, and host government agencies. The role requires a proactive approach to security risk management, including the development and implementation of security plans, conducting security evaluations, and providing training on security awareness. The Senior Field Security Associate will also be responsible for maintaining communication systems and ensuring timely dissemination of security-related information to IOM personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the UNDSS office, host government agencies, and local authorities to gather up-to-date security information.
  • Assist the Chief of Mission in collecting, updating, and communicating information regarding the security situation in Guinea.
  • Develop and implement IOM Country Office-specific security plans, including contingency and emergency response plans.
  • Conduct Security Risk Management (SRM) assessments and monitor the implementation of security measures.
  • Provide support in conducting security evaluations and advise on Residential Security Measures (RSM).
  • Manage the Country Office Warden system, ensuring updated staff lists and operability of communication systems.
  • Report security incidents affecting IOM personnel and prepare security reports.
  • Organize and conduct training courses on security awareness and provide orientation to newly assigned personnel.
  • Maintain an orderly filing system for confidential correspondence and security documents. 1
  • Implement IOM Guinea security measures and verify access control procedures. 1
  • Assist in investigations and incidents affecting IOM personnel and assets. 1
  • Liaise with commercial security companies to facilitate the effective use of guard forces. 1
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • University degree in Security, Social Sciences, International Studies, Communications, or a related field from an accredited institution, with four years of relevant professional experience; or a completed High School degree with six years of relevant professional experience.
  • Relevant professional experience in humanitarian, public, private, or corporate sectors is desirable.
  • Experience in security programs, risk assessments, or analysis is desirable.
  • Experience in operational security risk management, investigations, or physical security is desirable.
  • Successful completion of the UNDSS Field Security Associate (FSA) course is desirable.
  • UNDSS certification in Security Certification Programme (SCP), Security Analysis Practice and Process (SAPP), or Field Security Associate is desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree in a relevant field such as Security, Social Sciences, International Studies, or Communications from an accredited academic institution. Alternatively, a completed High School degree from an accredited institution is acceptable if accompanied by six years of relevant professional experience. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
Candidates should have relevant professional experience in the humanitarian, public, private, or corporate sectors. Experience in security programs, risk assessments, operational security risk management, investigations, or physical security is highly desirable. Familiarity with radio communications and successful completion of the UNDSS Field Security Associate course will be considered an advantage. Candidates should also have experience in conducting security evaluations and managing security measures effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in French and English is required, both oral and written. Knowledge of the national language is considered an advantage. Proficiency in any UN official language(s) and/or languages identified by the Country Office will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Additional Notes:
This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Guinea will be eligible for consideration. The appointment will be contingent upon certification of medical fitness, verification of residency, visa, and government authorizations where applicable. IOM has a zero-tolerance policy regarding conduct incompatible with its objectives, including discrimination and harassment. The selection process may also be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in a similar position for 24 months.
