Job Overview: The Research Associate position is integral to the Social Protection Policy Support (SPPS) Programme, which aims to enhance the social protection system in Bangladesh. The role involves supporting the development and implementation of coordination mechanisms among stakeholders within the social protection sector. The Research Associate will be responsible for preparing analytical reports, research briefs, and updates on governance improvements, contributing to the design and implementation of modern social protection infrastructure. The Research Associate will work under the direct supervision of the National Project Manager and will play a crucial role in ensuring that the programme meets its objectives effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Research Associate will undertake a variety of tasks, including:
Supporting the development and implementation of coordination mechanisms among relevant stakeholders within the social protection system.
Contributing to the preparation of research-based reports, briefs, and regular updates on governance improvements in the social protection sector.
Assisting the team in designing and implementing modern social protection infrastructure through evidence-based inputs.
Conducting background research, desk reviews, and data analysis to support programme planning and reporting.
Taking detailed notes during meetings, events, and discussions, and preparing summaries and running commentary as required.
Supporting documentation processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and proper archiving.
Collaborating with team members to prepare data-driven reports and knowledge products.
Streamlining documentation and reporting processes to enhance efficiency.
Performing any other tasks assigned by the Project Manager, SPPS. Expected outputs include high-quality research inputs, timely preparation of meeting notes, and improved documentation processes that contribute to the overall success of the project.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong research and analytical skills, with a proven ability to prepare high-quality reports and documentation. Proficiency in both Bangla and English is mandatory, as the role requires effective communication with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate should demonstrate adaptability, creativity, and a commitment to continuous learning. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently are also essential for this position.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in social sciences, public policy, development studies, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage, as it demonstrates a deeper understanding of social protection systems and governance.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in research, policy analysis, or programme support within the social protection sector or a related field. Experience working with governmental or international organizations, particularly in Bangladesh, is highly desirable. Familiarity with social protection policies and frameworks will be beneficial.
Languages: Proficiency in Bangla is mandatory, as it is essential for communication with local stakeholders.
