Job Overview: The Project Assistant position is crucial for supporting the activities of the Socioeconomic Integration Unit's Centro-Oeste Team in Brasília. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the National Officer/Project Coordinator and will also respond to the Senior Project Assistant. This role involves a variety of administrative and operational tasks aimed at facilitating the development, implementation, and monitoring of programs and projects related to socioeconomic integration. The Project Assistant will be expected to engage with various stakeholders, including government entities, civil society, and the private sector, to enhance employment opportunities for migrants and ensure effective communication and collaboration among all parties involved. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to:
Supporting administrative tasks related to travel, contracts, purchases, and payments.
Providing administrative assistance to the Socioeconomic Integration Unit's Centro-Oeste Team, including tracking follow-up actions and supporting meetings, workshops, and conferences.
Assisting in coordination with civil society, government, and private sector entities to facilitate program development and implementation.
Supporting outreach activities and partnership development with private sector partners to enhance employment opportunities for migrants.
Assisting in the preparation of progress reports and ensuring proper information exchange on operational aspects of the project.
Supporting capacity-building activities for local stakeholders.
Assisting in the implementation of projects aimed at socioeconomic integration in the Centro-Oeste region.
Collaborating with national counterparts to plan, organize, and manage logistics for various events and activities.
Supporting the development and dissemination of informational materials for refugees and migrants, including translation and revision tasks. 1
Performing other work-related duties as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma with at least four years of relevant professional experience, or a university degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Economics, Law, Public Policy, or a related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of two years of experience. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate experience in social and economic integration projects, particularly in partnership with government, civil society, UN, or private sector actors. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with various stakeholders are essential.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma or a university degree in relevant fields such as Social Sciences, International Relations, Economics, Law, or Public Policy. The degree must be from an accredited academic institution, and candidates with a high school diploma must have a minimum of four years of relevant experience, while those with a university degree must have at least two years of relevant experience.
Experience: Candidates should have experience working on social and economic integration projects, particularly in collaboration with government, civil society, UN, or private sector entities. Experience in dialogues with the private sector, including establishing partnerships and maintaining continuous contact, is also important. Additionally, candidates should have experience in project reporting, administrative tasks, and ideally, field experience related to migration, refugees, and stateless populations. Previous work experience with the United Nations or in migration-related issues will be considered an asset.
Languages: Fluency in Portuguese and English is required for this position, while proficiency in Spanish at an advanced level is advantageous. The selection process will specifically evaluate language proficiency, which may include written and/or oral assessments. IOM's official languages are English, French, and Spanish, and candidates should be prepared to demonstrate their language skills during the selection process.
Additional Notes: This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Brazil will be eligible for consideration.
