Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) was established in 1949 by the United Nations General Assembly. Its mission is to provide assistance and protection to approximately 5 million registered Palestine refugees across Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip. UNRWA is the largest UN operation in the Middle East, employing over 30,000 staff members. The agency's services include education, healthcare, relief and social services, camp infrastructure improvement, microfinance, and emergency assistance. UNRWA also advocates for the rights of Palestine refugees and supports their well-being until a durable solution to their plight is achieved. The Department of External Relations and Communications (ERCD) is responsible for raising funds and ensuring due diligence of private sector contributions for the entire Agency, with a focus on improving communication both internally and with the public.

Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer Information Management Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the due diligence function of UNRWA by providing essential information management services for existing and new private sector partners contributing financially or in-kind to the agency. This position is particularly important in light of the increased demand for partnerships and the complexity of managing reputational risks following the Gaza emergency. The volunteer will assist in the management of due diligence data, develop data collection and management processes, and create tools such as templates and databases. The role also involves identifying and addressing data quality issues and producing various information products, including dashboards, infographics, and reports, to meet the needs of both internal and external stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Volunteer will be responsible for a variety of tasks under the direct supervision of the Head of External Relations Services. Key duties include supporting the design and development of databases, spreadsheets, and other data tools; consolidating operational information on a regular basis to facilitate analysis; evaluating and analyzing UNRWA-specific datasets using statistical techniques; assisting in assessment and needs analysis activities; managing platforms and tools that support data collection and analysis; maintaining spatial baseline and operational datasets; updating information products such as reports, charts, and infographics; participating in information management working groups; and sharing information with humanitarian partners as directed by the supervisor. The volunteer may also be assigned additional duties as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the UN Volunteer Information Management Associate position should possess strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of data management principles. Proficiency in database management and statistical analysis is essential. The ideal candidate should also demonstrate excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Familiarity with humanitarian needs assessments and data collection methodologies is highly desirable. Additionally, the candidate should be adaptable and responsive to change, demonstrating leadership and accountability in their work.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as information management, data science, statistics, social sciences, or a related discipline is required for this position. Advanced degrees or certifications in data management or analysis would be an asset and may enhance a candidate's qualifications.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in information management, data analysis, or a related field. Experience working in humanitarian contexts or with international organizations is preferred. Familiarity with UNRWA's mission and operations, as well as experience in managing partnerships and stakeholder engagement, would be beneficial.

Languages:
The official language of Jordan is Arabic, and proficiency in Arabic is mandatory for this position. English is widely spoken, especially in urban areas, and a good command of English is also required. Knowledge of additional languages such as French, German, Italian, or Spanish would be considered an asset, although they are not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as an International Specialist UN Volunteer role. Volunteers are entitled to a Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of USD 2565.48, which is subject to change based on the monthly Post Adjustment Modifier. Additional benefits include entry and exit lumpsum allowances, travel allowance, annual and learning leaves, free medical and life insurance, and access to various learning platforms. The living conditions in Jordan are generally stable, with good medical facilities available, particularly in Amman. Housing is accessible, with rental prices for one- to two-bedroom apartments ranging from 500 to 800 JD. Transportation options are plentiful, including taxis and ride-hailing services.
