Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is located in the Office of the Director within the UN Division of Healthcare Management and Occupational Safety and Health (DHMOSH), which is part of the Office of Support Operations (OSO) within the Department of Operational Support (DOS). The DOS was established to provide comprehensive operational support and advisory services to various entities across the UN Secretariat, including peace operations and regional commissions. The DHMOSH focuses on delivering healthcare management services, occupational safety, and health support to UN entities and New York-based Agencies, Funds, and Programmes. Interns will assist in developing health-related projects, creating data visualization reports using Power BI, and monitoring health policy developments relevant to DHMOSH. They will also contribute to the preparation of official documents, conduct research, assist in reporting and content drafting, and help organize special events and meetings. This role is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and contribute to the UN's mission while gaining valuable experience in a professional setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will have a range of responsibilities, including: assisting in the development of health-related projects for DHMOSH; creating Power BI reports and other data visualization reports; monitoring health policy developments; preparing official documents with attention to grammar, content, and formatting; conducting research on medical and psychosocial policies; assisting in reporting and drafting content for various media; organizing special events and meetings; and performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor. This position requires a proactive approach and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to furthering their education or working in a field relevant to DHMOSH. They must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate school program, be in the final year of a bachelor's degree program, or have graduated with a university degree. A keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to its ideals are essential. Candidates should also exhibit strong interpersonal skills, particularly in interacting with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Power BI, is required, along with a background in statistical data analytics, public health, or data management being desirable. No prior work experience is necessary for this internship.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a university degree relevant to the position. This includes being enrolled in a graduate program, in the final year of a bachelor's degree, or having graduated with a university degree. The educational background should ideally align with the fields of healthcare management, public health, data management, or related disciplines.

Experience:
No prior work experience is required for applicants to the United Nations Internship Programme. However, candidates should possess relevant training, education, or skills that would benefit the UN during their internship. This is an opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain practical experience in a professional environment while contributing to the UN's mission.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, is considered an advantage and may enhance a candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
The internship is expected to last between three to six months, with interns working on a full-time or part-time basis under the supervision of a staff member. Interns are responsible for obtaining the necessary visa and work authorization to undertake the internship, particularly if they are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The UN does not provide financial remuneration for internships, and candidates must cover their own travel, accommodation, and living expenses.
