Job Overview:
The National UN Volunteer for Nutrition Data will play a crucial role in strengthening the Nutrition Information System in Nigeria. The volunteer will be responsible for providing technical support in nutrition planning, data collection, analysis, and reporting. This includes working with both routine program data and population-level survey data, utilizing GIS software for data visualization, and producing informative materials such as maps and dashboards. The role also involves managing nutrition databases, supporting supply chain management, and conducting field visits to monitor data quality. The volunteer will engage in capacity-building activities and contribute to the overall effectiveness of UNICEF's nutrition programs in Nigeria, ensuring that data-driven decisions are made to improve the health and nutrition of children and women.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the National UN Volunteer for Nutrition Data include:
  • Providing technical support in nutrition planning, data collection, analysis, and reporting, including routine program data and population-level survey data.
  • Utilizing GIS software such as ArcGIS and Power BI for data visualization and producing maps, PowerPoint presentations, and dashboards.
  • Managing nutrition databases using tools like Excel and other internal software.
  • Supporting annual forecasting, planning, and documentation of nutrition supply procurements.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the nutrition commodity supply pipeline and reporting relevant data.
  • Linking UNICEF supply data with the National Health Logistics Management Information System.
  • Developing information products tailored to audience needs and data availability, refining ideas in consultation with the UNICEF team.
  • Conducting field visits to monitor data collection quality and providing supportive supervision.
  • Supporting nutrition situation analysis and internal/external reporting needs. 1
  • Participating in nutrition data capacity-building activities. 1
  • Performing other tasks as assigned by the supervisor. Additionally, the volunteer is encouraged to engage with communities and promote volunteerism through various activities.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a strong background in data analysis, nutrition, or a related field. Candidates should possess technical skills in data collection, analysis, and reporting, as well as experience with GIS software for data visualization. Familiarity with nutrition databases and supply chain management is essential. Languages:

This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in Abuja, Nigeria. The position requires frequent travel across the country. The volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials, with average monthly rent ranging from USD $1,000 to $3,00
  • The volunteer is encouraged to select housing in secure areas such as Garki, Maitama, Wuse, Asokoro, or Jabi. The cost of living in Abuja is relatively moderate, and the volunteer should be prepared for the associated expenses.
