Job Overview: The Camp Management Project Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing Site Management projects within the Shelter and Settlements sector. This position involves line management of project staff, adherence to NRC policies, and the development of strategies for effective project implementation. The manager will coordinate with various stakeholders, including local authorities and community leaders, to ensure that projects are designed and executed in a manner that meets the needs of the most vulnerable populations. The role requires a strong focus on technical quality, budget management, and capacity building of project staff. The Camp ManagementProject Manager will also be responsible for providing regular progress reports and ensuring that the rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees are promoted in line with NRC's advocacy strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Camp Management Project Manager will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Line management of project staff, ensuring adherence to NRC policies and procedures.
Development and implementation of Site Management strategies in alignment with country-level Shelter and Settlements strategies.
Coordination and management of Site Management projects, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and project documentation.
Regular reporting to the Area Manager and Shelter and Settlements Specialist on project progress and challenges.
Budget management for Site Management projects, ensuring effective use of resources.
Capacity building of project staff through training and mentorship.
Collaboration with local authorities and stakeholders to promote the rights of IDPs and returnees.
Conducting needs assessments to inform design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and advocacy efforts.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of experience in a senior-level project implementation role within a humanitarian or recovery context. They should have technical expertise in camp management and a proven track record of managing projects in complex and volatile environments. Strong leadership skills, the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, and a commitment to promoting the rights of vulnerable populations are essential. Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory, while proficiency in Arabic is considered an advantage.
Educational Background: A relevant educational background is required, typically including a degree in humanitarian studies, social sciences, or a related field. Advanced degrees or specialized training in project management, camp management, or related areas will be viewed favorably.
Experience: The position requires at least three years of relevant experience in Site Management, with a strong emphasis on technical expertise and the ability to guide teams in developing and maintaining information management products. Experience in conducting training for staff and community leaders is also essential, along with proven abilities in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as effective communication is critical for project management and stakeholder engagement. Proficiency in Arabic is advantageous, as it facilitates better interaction with local communities and authorities.
Additional Notes: This position is based in North Darfur and is offered on a one-year contract.
