Job Overview: The ICT Support Assistant position is crucial for delivering standard software and hardware support services within the World Food Programme. The role involves monitoring and maintaining a wide range of information sources to ensure the effective delivery of Digital Assistance services. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and configuring new computer hardware, supporting technology upgrades, and performing system maintenance tasks. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with senior colleagues and stakeholders. The ICT Support Assistant will also play a key role in training staff and ensuring that technology policies and procedures are adhered to, thereby contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of WFP's operations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the ICT Support Assistant include, but are not limited to: installing and configuring new computer hardware to improve system performance; supporting technology upgrades as required; conducting system and equipment maintenance tasks, including backing up system data; receiving and inspecting incoming assets for Cash-based Transfers (CBT) and reporting discrepancies; performing basic beta testing and supporting the rollout of new software versions; ensuring accurate information within inventories, databases, and archives; collating information for training documentation and web content; following emergency response processes to support food assistance needs; responding to user queries and resolving issues; supporting staff capability building through training programs; proposing operational improvements; receiving and triaging service requests; and performing other ICT-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a completion of Secondary School education or a University Degree in Information and Communication Technology, supplemented with relevant certifications in Server, Networking, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security, and IT Governance. Additionally, candidates should have a strong understanding of work routines and methods to complete processes with minimal supervision. The ability to communicate tactfully and courteously with a diverse range of individuals is essential, as is the capability to identify and rectify data discrepancies. Candidates should also be able to provide guidance and basic training to junior staff members.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a completion of Secondary School education or a University Degree in Information and Communication Technology. Candidates with additional certifications in Server, Networking, Security, and IT Governance will be preferred. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the technical aspects of the role and for effectively supporting WFP's ICT needs.
Experience: Candidates should have at least five (5) years of experience if they hold a Secondary School Certificate, or a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in ICT or a related field if they possess a University degree (Diploma/Bachelor’s).
