Job Overview: The UN Volunteer – Brand and Fundraising Readiness Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting UNICEF's project aimed at enhancing digital and partnership transformation to increase revenues and positively impact children's lives globally. This position is based in the UNICEF Oman Country Office in Muscat, where the volunteer will collaborate with dedicated teams focused on digital communications and innovative strategies for individual giving fundraising. The role involves preparing the Oman Country Office for future domestic digital fundraising efforts, contributing to brand development, and fostering partnerships with individual donors and the private sector in the MENA region, particularly in Oman. The volunteer will report to the Communications and/or Partnerships team and will receive guidance from senior colleagues in the digital team, making this an exciting opportunity to be part of UNICEF's expanding digital initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The UN Volunteer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: developing and managing a tracker to monitor progress in brand building and fundraising readiness; setting up analytics and monitoring tools to assess brand engagement; optimizing digital assets for future fundraising efforts; developing and implementing a content strategy for owned platforms; collaborating with colleagues on partnerships and planned activations; creating content pieces such as videos and social media posts; monitoring and evaluating results; identifying best practices in brand marketing and fundraising; and performing any other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor. Additionally, the volunteer is encouraged to engage with communities and promote voluntary action through various activities, such as participating in UNV events and contributing to publications.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong organizational and communication skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Experience in digital marketing, brand management, or fundraising is highly desirable. The ideal candidate should demonstrate creativity, adaptability, and a commitment to UNICEF's mission and values. Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for communication and engagement is essential, along with the ability to analyze data and derive actionable insights. Strong writing skills for content creation and the ability to engage with diverse audiences are also important.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of digital marketing principles and practices, as well as experience in developing content strategies and managing social media platforms.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in communications, marketing, or fundraising. Experience working with non-profit organizations or in the UN system is an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successful project management and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within UNICEF and in the region. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate engagement with local stakeholders and enhance communication efforts in Oman. Additional languages may be beneficial but are not required.
Additional Notes: This is a volunteer position with a monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of USD 2,979.91, along with an entry lumpsum of USD 40
Volunteers are entitled to annual and learning leaves, free medical and life insurance, and access to various learning platforms. The initial contract is issued upon arrival and may be extended based on operational needs and performance. The position is categorized as a family duty station (category A hardship), and living conditions in Muscat are generally favorable, with a range of amenities and services available.
