Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer Associate Registration and Identity Officer will play a crucial role in coordinating registration and identity management activities in the Sub Office Mbarara area. This position requires strong technical expertise in registration, data management, and information management skills. The officer will oversee registration processes, ensuring they are inclusive and efficient while considering personal data protection needs. The role involves providing technical guidance and support to UNHCR staff, partners, and government counterparts, monitoring registration activities, and implementing data quality control measures. The officer will also facilitate access to services for refugees through trusted identity credentials and enhance the use of various tools for delivering protection and assistance services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the UN Volunteer Associate Registration and Identity Officer include coordinating activities with the Office of the Prime Minister and Protection units, overseeing registration and identity management activities, ensuring biometric enrollment, recording vital events of refugees and asylum-seekers, providing technical support and training to staff and partners, monitoring and evaluating registration activities, implementing data quality control measures, ensuring identity data supports protection interventions, preparing population statistics, and conducting information management activities such as designing dashboards and tools for assessments and surveys.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, teamwork, and respect for diversity. They should possess effective organizational and problem-solving skills, proven interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Flexibility and adaptability to work in potentially hazardous conditions are essential. A genuine commitment to the principles of voluntary engagement and UNHCR's mission is also required.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is necessary for this position, ideally in fields related to social sciences, international relations, or humanitarian work. Candidates should have a strong understanding of UNHCR operations and procedures, as well as technical capabilities relevant to registration and identity management.

Experience:
Candidates should have proven experience in registration, data management, and information management. Experience working in humanitarian settings or with refugee populations is highly desirable. The ability to work independently and manage a large volume of work efficiently is crucial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of additional languages relevant to the refugee populations in Uganda, such as French or local languages, is considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Sub-Office Mbarara, which is a family duty station. Staff can stay in UNDSS cleared areas in private accommodation. The living conditions require a mature level of cultural awareness and the ability to adapt to potentially hazardous and remote conditions. The position is full-time, and the deadline for applications is set for 30 June 2025.
