Job Overview: The consultant role within UNICEF's Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) focuses on advancing the implementation of Microsoft Purview across UNICEF’s global environment. The consultant will work closely with internal teams to ensure the effective design, deployment, and sustainability of the platform. This position requires deep knowledge of Microsoft Purview and Microsoft 365 technologies to enhance UNICEF’s digital governance and compliance framework. The consultant will be responsible for configuring and deploying core Microsoft Purview services, operationalizing governance frameworks, and engaging with business units to refine policies and gather feedback. The overarching goal is to strengthen UNICEF’s digital guardrails and support long-term organizational needs through innovative technology-enabled solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will undertake a variety of responsibilities including: configuring and deploying Microsoft Purview services such as Information Protection, Data Loss Prevention, Insider Risk Management, and Data Lifecycle Management; performing test deployments and documenting configurations; developing an Operationalization Framework that includes compliance and data governance runbooks; analyzing signals across compliance portals; conducting structured engagements with business units to validate policy impacts; delivering targeted briefing sessions for stakeholders; and drafting a strategic roadmap for Purview operational maturity. The consultant will also be responsible for ensuring that governance controls and policy templates are defined and operationalized effectively.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate expertise in Microsoft Purview, including configuration of Information Protection, DLP, Insider Risk, and Data Lifecycle Management. Practical experience with the Microsoft Purview Advanced Rich Reports (MPARR) Collector is essential. Strong understanding of compliance signal analysis and the ability to engage with business stakeholders to refine policies is required. Experience in creating reusable templates and operational governance models is necessary, along with proven ability to deliver briefings to both technical and non-technical audiences. A Microsoft Certified: Information Protection Administrator Associate (SC-400) certification is desired, or equivalent experience is acceptable. Strong communication and collaboration skills are also essential.
Educational Background: A relevant educational background is required, typically including a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced certifications in Microsoft technologies or information governance may be beneficial and enhance a candidate's profile.
Experience: Candidates should have substantial experience in implementing and managing Microsoft Purview and related technologies. This includes hands-on experience with compliance frameworks, governance models, and operationalizing technology solutions in a complex organizational environment. Experience in engaging with diverse stakeholders and delivering training or documentation is also important.
Languages: Fluency in English, both verbal and written, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
