Job Overview: The ICT Analyst plays a crucial role in overseeing the implementation of ICT policies and standards set by UNFPA HQ. This position involves providing ICT and administrative support services to the UNFPA Country Office in Mogadishu, as well as offering daily technical support to users of information management tools and technology infrastructure. The ICT Analyst will report directly to the International Operations Manager (IOM) and is expected to ensure compliance with UNFPA ICT policies and procedures. The role requires effective management of UNFPA programme activities, ensuring the smooth operation of ICT services, managing data, information, and workflow, and leading the execution of ICT services in the Country Office and sub-offices. The position also involves developing and implementing ICT management systems and strategies, as well as supervising the provision of daily technical support to users.
Duties and Responsibilities: The ICT Analyst will be responsible for several key duties, including:
Overseeing the implementation of ICT management systems and strategies, ensuring compliance with corporate information management and technology standards.
Ensuring the effective functioning of hardware and software packages, including managing installations, upgrades, and routine repairs.
Ensuring ICT security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security in the office by managing passwords, software installations, and user rights.
Administering support networks, troubleshooting network problems, and managing backup and restoration procedures.
Supervising administrative support, including maintaining an inventory of software and hardware, establishing databases, and managing ICT support for key events.
Facilitating knowledge building and sharing within the Country Office by providing training and participating in knowledge networks and interagency working groups.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Related professional certifications are also desirable. The position requires not less than two years of progressive experience in ICT, preferably in network infrastructure or cloud-based application administration. Candidates should have a thorough knowledge of ICT networks, connectivity concepts, and the ability to integrate office automation needs with available resources. Relevant certifications in hardware and software management, as well as experience with modern network security, VPNs, and firewalls, are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to manage software licensing and deployment tools, and possess scripting or automation skills for ICT management.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates with related professional certifications will have an advantage. The educational background should provide a solid foundation in ICT principles and practices, as well as familiarity with current technologies and methodologies in the field.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of progressive experience in ICT, with a focus on network infrastructure or cloud-based application administration. Candidates should have experience in managing ICT networks, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and implementing security measures. Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and modern deployment tools is also essential. The ability to perform a variety of standard and specialized tasks in ICT management is required, along with a proven track record of problem-solving and process improvement.
Languages: A solid command of spoken and written English is mandatory, along with proficiency in the Somali language.
