Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position is part of UNDP’s Global Programme on Nature for Development, which encompasses three key initiatives: the Equator Initiative, the National Biodiversity Initiative, and the Global Forest Initiative. This role specifically involves proofreading a 15-page case study that has been translated from English to French. The purpose of this task is to ensure the accuracy and clarity of the translation, which is crucial for effective communication and recognition of local sustainable development solutions. The case study will be sent via email to the selected volunteer, who will be expected to provide feedback and corrections to enhance the quality of the document. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about sustainable development and have a keen eye for detail in language and translation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review the translated case study for grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors.
• Ensure that the translation accurately reflects the original English text in terms of meaning and context.
• Provide constructive feedback on the translation to improve clarity and readability.
• Collaborate with the UNDP team to address any specific concerns or questions regarding the translation.
• Submit the proofread document within the agreed timeframe to facilitate timely publication and dissemination of the case study.

Required Qualifications:

• Proficiency in both English and French, with strong writing and editing skills in both languages.
• Experience in proofreading or editing documents, particularly in the context of sustainable development or related fields.
• Familiarity with UNDP’s mission and initiatives, particularly those related to biodiversity and sustainable development.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with the UNDP team.

Educational Background:
A background in languages, translation, environmental studies, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant academic qualifications or certifications in translation or proofreading will be given priority.

Experience:
Previous experience in proofreading or editing translated documents is highly desirable. Familiarity with sustainable development topics and UNDP’s initiatives will be an advantage. Volunteers should be able to demonstrate their ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Languages:
Mandatory: Proficiency in English and French. Good to have: Knowledge of other languages relevant to UNDP’s work in sustainable development may be beneficial but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This is a remote volunteer position, and there is no specific deadline mentioned for the application.
