Job Overview: As a Communications Officer within the Knowledge Support Division (DCKD) of the Department of Communications and Knowledge Management (DOCK) at ADB, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all internal stakeholders are well-informed and aligned with the bank's vision and goals. Your responsibilities will include developing and supporting internal communications governance and policies, managing corporate digital communication platforms, and coordinating improvements in the integration of AI-powered tools across the ADB Intranet. You will also be responsible for producing internal messaging, campaigns, and events, as well as supporting staff engagement and feedback mechanisms. This position requires a proactive approach to internal communications and a commitment to fostering a connected and informed workforce within ADB.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Communications Officer will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: developing and supporting internal communications governance and policies; assisting in the management of corporate digital communication platforms such as the ADB Intranet and OneADB Today newsletter; coordinating the integration of AI-powered tools across the ADB Intranet; producing internal messaging and campaigns; planning and executing HQ-based events involving ADB Management; managing the production and dissemination of internal communications materials; supporting staff engagement and feedback mechanisms; coordinating with departments to align internal messages; managing crisis and incident internal communications; contributing to the recruitment and performance reviews of internal communications consultants; and performing other related tasks as assigned by supervising technical international staff.
Required Qualifications: To be considered for the Communications Officer position, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, information and/or knowledge management, or a related field, preferably with advanced training. Additionally, candidates should have at least 8 years of relevant work experience, particularly in managing and optimizing internal communication systems such as intranet and email. Familiarity with Information Technology applications related to knowledge work is essential, as is a proven ability to create engaging and impactful digital content for various channels and stakeholder groups. Candidates must also demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate for the Communications Officer role should have a Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, information and/or knowledge management, or a related area. Advanced training in these fields is preferred, as it will provide the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively manage internal communications and contribute to the overall mission of ADB.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in the field of communications, particularly in managing internal communication systems and creating digital content. Experience in optimizing communication platforms and familiarity with Information Technology applications related to knowledge work are also important for this role. The ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively is crucial for success in this position.
Languages: The primary language required for this position is English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills being essential. While not mandatory, proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if it enhances communication with diverse stakeholder groups within the Asia-Pacific region.
Additional Notes: This position is a fixed-term appointment for an initial period of 3 years, with the possibility of extension for up to 2 additional years, conversion to a regular appointment, or termination at the end of the initial period based on ADB's needs and the employee's performance.
