Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Procurement Associate include but are not limited to: performing administrative procurement activities to support professional staff; compiling data and preparing documents for procurement programs; reviewing and prioritizing purchasing requests; coordinating and monitoring the delivery of procurement requisitions; verifying receipt and inspection of deliverables; researching and presenting information in standard formats; updating and managing relevant databases and records; liaising with internal counterparts to ensure alignment of procurement activities; providing technical support and allocating work to other support staff; following standard emergency preparedness practices to support WFP's rapid response capabilities; and ensuring compliance with WFP's procurement policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a secondary school education or a university degree (Diploma/Bachelor) in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Law, Accounting, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have at least five years of progressively responsible experience in procurement, supply chain operations, contracting, or administrative support functions with a Secondary School Certificate, or a minimum of two years of relevant experience with a university degree. Candidates should also have experience conducting analyses and developing reports, as well as working with suppliers or third parties on a day-to-day basis.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes the completion of secondary school education or a university degree in relevant fields such as Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Law, or Accounting. A higher level of education may be preferred, but practical experience in procurement and supply chain operations is equally valued.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in procurement, supply chain operations, contracting, or administrative support functions for candidates with a Secondary School Certificate. For those with a university degree, a minimum of two years of relevant experience is required. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of procurement processes and have a proven track record of managing procurement activities effectively.
Languages: Fluency in English and Somali is mandatory for this position, with a proficiency level of C in both languages.
