Job Overview: The Immunization Officer position is crucial for enhancing vaccination coverage in Guinea, particularly in the Kankan and Faranah regions, which face significant immunization challenges. The officer will be responsible for the technical contribution to the design, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and administration of vaccination programs. This includes data analysis, program support, execution, progress reporting, and promoting vaccination coverage. The role requires collaboration with the Nutrition Officer and other team members to integrate health care interventions at the community level. The officer will also engage in capacity building and teamwork to achieve the objectives outlined in the national program strategy. This position is vital for operationalizing UNICEF's ambitious vaccination strategy on the ground, especially in areas with high rates of unvaccinated and under-immunized children.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute to the design and planning of vaccination programs, ensuring alignment with national strategies and objectives.
Implement and monitor vaccination activities, ensuring adherence to established protocols and guidelines.
Analyze vaccination data to identify trends, challenges, and areas for improvement.
Prepare progress reports and documentation related to vaccination activities.
Collaborate with local health authorities and partners to enhance vaccination coverage and address barriers to immunization.
Provide technical support and training to health workers and community volunteers involved in vaccination efforts.
Engage in community outreach to raise awareness about the importance of vaccination and encourage participation.
Participate in evaluations of vaccination programs to assess effectiveness and impact.

Required Qualifications:
Proven expertise in immunization programs and public health initiatives.

Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in public health, specifically in immunization programs or related fields. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is preferred. Familiarity with the challenges of vaccination in Guinea, particularly in rural areas, is a plus.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory. Proficiency in English and local languages is considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse communities.
Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in Kankan, Guinea. The volunteer will be responsible for organizing their own accommodation and essential living arrangements. The contract duration is specified, with the possibility of extension based on operational needs and satisfactory performance. Volunteers receive a monthly living allowance to cover housing, utilities, and basic living expenses. Health, life, and disability insurance are included, covering up to three dependents. In areas classified as D or E by the International Committee, a monthly hardship differential will be provided.
